Really grateful to @campbellwpaul/@guardian_sport for giving me the platform to write about the topic that interests me most: the fascinating crossroads between Brazilian football and society. Latest piece for them on some recent happenings in São Paulo. theguardian.com/football/2023/…
That French-Sheffield connection ...
When it comes to shield, armour and sword few people do it like Sean Bean
And that's without the captain/Ter Stegen drama as well ...
One regular day of Barcelona. All we ask. Will never happen. Wed, 6pm: Marcus Rashford is unveiled as a Barcelona player. Wed, 8pm: Barcelona say they are not travelling to Japan the following day for the start of their pre-season tour. Wed, 10pm: One of the companies…
Eldest son has similar with Ansu Fati. He was the immigrant kid like him, fulfilling his dreams and playing for Barça smashing all the records when we arrived in BCN in 2019 and son was just 4. His books helped him learn Catalan,so it's a little sad how things turned out for Ansu
Rashford scored the last goal I saw with my dad. He was my son’s first favourite player. I know sentiment isn’t fashionable on here, but football is about emotion, connection, memory. It’s ended badly, yes - but part of me will always want him to do well
Pfft. Amateur hour. Try 11-12 weeks in Spain with young kids, in extreme heat ... theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
Tell me you don't watch Lamine week in week out, without telling me you don't watch Lamine week in week out
Cole Palmer went 6 months without scoring and still finished the season with more goals than Lamine Yamal. Yet it is acceptable to call Yamal a Ballon D’or favourite, but not Palmer. The standards for Cole Palmer are simply not the same as other players’.
Wow. Great don't get me wrong, but it's like Lou Suarez and Bobny Lewandowski must have been playing tiddlywinks
Ningún 9 del mundo, desde 2010 hasta hoy, llegó al nivel que tuvo este señor en su prime. Saludos.
Gutted there's no Barcelona date
He’s The Preemo, I’m The Chemist World Tour!!! 🌍 @REALDJPREMIER @Alchemist
What a man he is
This is why Oleksandr Usyk loves his British fans 😅
Went to watch FC Barcelona first team train this morning. Flick told us that he has 35 players which is too many, wants 26 ideally. New signing Roony looking sharp trying to impress him and getting compliments for his work #FCBlive

Listening to Pixies - Doolittle in the car this morning, and after them clocking the front cover and me explaining the artwork to them a bit, my sons are now fascinated as to why this monkey's gone to heaven
My 8 year old, who plays centre back and said he watched how Pau Cubarsi does it, can pull off that very basic step on the ball turn/drag to the side better than Rudiger it seems
How ironic of Brazilian football that the ex-Fluminense academy kid sold to England before he'd even made his senior debut ends Fluminense's impressive Club World Cup run. That Chelsea can just drop £55mn on him mid-tournament speaks volumes of the economic disparities too ...
What a lad he is
Bumped into PSG manager Luis Enrique again and he still knows my face! First interviewed him in 2018, then again in 2021 as Spain coach. This time, he spots me, grins, and shouts, “Nigeria!” like we’re old teammates. I almost did a backflip. 🤣Absolute legend! ❤️
A study has put the Brazilian league down as the sixth best in the world and the second most balanced/competitive

Wrote about Thiago Silva, Fluminense and their charismatic coach Renato Gaúcho before they take on Chelsea in the Club World Cup semis tonight. For The Guardian, with help from @carlosemansur theguardian.com/football/2025/…
