👇Today in 1985... The entire world stopped for Live Aid - and Freddie stole the show. But - as we remember the concert of all concerts - we've lost sight about why it took place at all: The value of overseas aid and helping tackle crises before they escalate into war.

👇This is image should shame the international community for not doing enough. When do we step in under our formal UN obligation known as the Responsibility to Protect (R2P)?

👇Finally... the world speaks out. Israel's right to pursue HAMAS does not give it license to cause this scale of death, destruction and humanitarian horror.

AFGHAN DATA BREACH: 👇 As Q's are asked- here's my takeaway: In high-pressure situations, human error happens. But our culture is to hide rather than admit errors - compounding the original fault. It's this bigger picture which must be addressed - or we learn little. My…

#RIAT2025 Good to be back in the air power world at the impressive Royal International Air Tattoo- RAF Fairford!

Exposure of this data breach ... highlights another grim chapter in our long, challenging, and ultimately flawed intervention in Afghanistan. Afghanistan is now the forgotten country. And now sadly heading to an even darker place. Some thoughts on @TimesRadio
Trump is finally seeing Putin as Europe does — a threat. A welcome US shift on Ukraine, but so late in the day. We still need to define the mission: what does victory look like, and how do we achieve it? 👇 My thoughts on why we must stand tall with Ukraine. @GBNEWS
Wake-up call from UK's head of Space Command👇 Just 1% of our defence budget goes to space defence. France = 2%, USA =5%. Yet that's where the next major war starts - taking out our satellite comms & GPS. @TheHouseMag

Preparing for conflict... 👇 Some of us have been calling for this for some time. 👉An enemy determined to do battle - turns our hesitation to his advantage. 👉To wait for war is to invite it.

Killing is being desensitised 👇 When do we speak louder about how supporting Israel’s right to pursue the Oct 7 killers doesn’t give Netanyahu the right to casually devalue ordinary lives with endless “collateral damage”?

TRUMP/NETANYAHU MEET 👇What's the strategy? The 21 month Gaza war illustrates the 1st rule of conflict - mil ops alone can decimate infrastructure & kill enemy formations. But they can't erase ideology without a strategy. Peace will remain illusive until the deeper 🇮🇱/ 🇵🇸…

One year on from the general election... Some thoughts/ ideas about the state of conservatism in a multi-party world: 👉 Put Country before Party 👉 Clarify what the Party stands for 👉 Reclaim the centre right - the historical sweet spot to win elections @Daily_Express

7/7 Bombings: 20 years on we remember the 52 innocent victims killed, the hundreds injured and the brave responders who ran towards danger to save others. Terrorists, pursuing a twisted ideology, tried to divide us. The nation stood firm.

👇This is far from over. Tactics and military might is not enough to neutralise the threat and bring long term stability. This requires a strategy that builds on battlefield success. There's been no clear Iran strategy for decades.

👇My reflections from the #NATOSummit in The Hague. An historic new NATO target of 5% agreed. But..for 2035. We are leaving it too late. Our ever unstable world will look very different by then.
Heading to the NATO Summit today. One big Q on the agenda: Will member states commit to 5% GDP spend on defence? Most will agree - as it does not apply until 2035. But looming threats are moving faster than this - leaving us exposed.

A major turning point for the M/E. Given Iran's decades of destabilising the region & pursuing a bomb - this 🇺🇸strike has long been on the cards. But why 🇺🇸 hesitated for so long - is now reality: In uncharted waters it's unclear where this goes. My analysis on @SkyNews
Call to re-install our conflict prevention budget 👇Delighted to join over 60 senior former mil, civil service & politicians calling for the PM to rethink its soft power efforts in preventing conflict at source- rather than having to tackle the wider fallout when conflict…

👇 UK's biggest military airbase. BREACHED. Simply appalling. This should have been closed down instantly. Huge questions for the RAF. And every other garrison commander.

👇IRAN Degrading Iran is a shared goal- But what follows? What's the strategy to avoid another civil war or another Iraq? Assad's gone in Syria but replaced by an old AQ boss. War's the easier part - stability is much harder. Leave a vacuum - another dictator could follow.
