“Mediocre at best”
High praise. When one gains the respect of (or criticism from) those whose opinion one has deep respect for, what else matters on social media? x.com/naval/status/1…
Same as I recommend to everyone. Read like a textbook, slowly, making sure that you understand each point. Less a book and more a school of philosophy. The Sovereign Child is an offshoot. Accompany with @ToKTeacher podcasts. The Beginning of Infinity a.co/d/aVrmpfE
I still have a few remaining signed first impression first edition copies of The Beginning of Infinity (and The Fabric of Reality). DMs open.
I'll be speaking with mathematician Paul Raymond-Robichaud (@PaulRRobichaud) soon for an ongoing series of conversations with the @ConjectureInst fellows. Paul's research and other interests are found here conjectureinstitute.org. Drop any questions for him below!
I guess this never happens. I guess any self-identified Communist isn't angered by reading truth. They ignore, turn away and fail to understand or they do understand & are persuaded so are no longer Communists. It's like almost anything: given a better place to jump: they jump.

Ever wondered how the world can be local in quantum theory? Here is my full explanation of the problem and its solution without complicated mathematics (links in comments):
Creativity *is* special and mathematics requires creativity. AI could check mathematical statements for correctness, but, for instance, it won’t be able to produce new, useful axioms that solve problems. If it could, it would be AGI, and at that point, it would simply be a…
I find it mildly amusing how mathematicians are currently clinging onto the hope that there is something special about their creativity that AI will not also be able to pull off in a year or two.
The idea coercion is necessary for learning anything is just a failure of imagination. What is achieved through the use of coercion can always in principle be achieved without it. Yes: often we don’t know how. The problem is few even want to try — especially in education.
This is the central problem with higher education in the age of AI. We can't require students to do take-home writing assignments (e.g. term papers) any more, because most will cheat and have ChatGPT or Claude or Grok do the writing. But we can't teach critical thinking,…
Great listen about a great article! ‘Willful ignorance characterizes creative processes’ Voluntary ignorance is good!
I'm joined by Liberty Fitz-Claridge (@l1berty) for Episode 243 of ToKCast: Reading and reflecting on "In praise of ignorance" by @DavidDeutschOxf. You can find the original article here: takingchildrenseriously.com/in-praise-of-i…
Paul is the leading master of the art of ruling out bad interpretations mathematically.
Knowledge of mathematics will not tell you which interpretation of probability/quantum theory is the right one. But it will rule out bad interpretations.
Imagine if there were quantum experiments already done by the universe — using cosmological time and energy scales to reveal signatures of quantum gravity & push fundamental physics to its limits? In the latest episode of the Quantum Foundations Podcast, @IyerAditya explains…
If you really support an eventual two-state solution, or any other solution, you need to support this: x.com/DavidDeutschOx… Or else you are really only legitimising hurting Jews. For ever. According to the ancient Pattern.
Anyone else wake up like this?
