RCSI TERG
@TissueEngDublin
Multi-disciplinary, multi-PI research lab (headed by @fjobrien) focused on #biomaterials, #bioengineering, #drugdelivery & #stemcells for tissue repair.
It was wonderful to have @TracyRobsonMCT with us this morning to speak about her rules for a successful career in STEM and her own scientific and academic journey, kicking off our Women in Academia Workshop running today and tomorrow as part of the @HorizonRegeneu collaboration!

Dr Aamir Hameed won the Vice Chancellor’s Commercialisation Innovation Award at RCSI Research Day. The award recognised his work in founding the RCSI spin-out company Pumpinheart to progress a miniaturised heart pump technology for the treatment of heart failure. #RCSIdiscover
This is a great example of research that would not have occurred without the unique interdisciplinary environment of our @ambercentre A real team effort between @TissueEngDublin researchers led by @iWoodsie and 2D materials scientists from @NicolosiGroup

An implant developed by RCSI and @ambercentre researchers has been shown to deliver electrical stimulation to injured areas of the spinal cord. The study, in partnership with @IRFUCharTrust, offers a potential route for nerve repair. ➡️ rcsi.com/dublin/news-an… #RCSIdiscover
Nice visit to Paris (as ever!) for meeting on our project focussed on regulatory T cells #TRegs & immunomodulatory biomaterials. Our collaborators Makoto Miyara & @FM_Fernandes_ in @Sorbonne_Univ_ were excellent hosts as ever Thanks to @Researchirel #Ulysses for support.
Three of RCSI’s early career researchers have secured €1.94 million in funding under Research Ireland’s Pathway Programme. The funding aims to support the next generation of independent research leaders in Ireland. Read more ⬇ rcsi.com/dublin/news-an… #RCSIdiscover
An honour (and nerve-racking) for me to have been asked to present @Paulaaklavina data (in collaboration with @PrestonLab_RCSI ) on circadian control of clot breakdown and how this relates to the striking morning increase in ischemic stroke at the Gordon Research Conference
Fascinating to hear from Sofia Dembski on her research journey from dentistry to biomaterias as part of the Women in Academia Workshop in TERG last week with @HorizonRegeneu!

Brilliant to have @mairead_mh from @ambercentre come in to talk to us about the importance of public outreach and engagement in STEM on Friday as part of the Women in Academia Workshop!

Really insightful to have TERG PI Olga Piskareva presenting her experience of translating innovations in the field of bioengineering into cancer treatments as part of our Women in Academia Workshop on Friday!

Brilliant to have @SorchOm with us on Thursday to discuss the ups and downs of completing a PhD while undertaking surgical training, as part of the Women in Academia workshop we ran!

A real treat to have Lorraine Byrne, executive director of @ambercentre, take part in the Women in Academia Workshop we ran last week as part of an ongoing collaboration for @HorizonRegeneu! Lorraine spoke about her career path and the far-reaching success of female PIs in AMBER!

A big thank you to TERG PI Ciara Murphy for taking part in our Women in Academia Workshop last week to discuss her pathway to a European Research Council grant!

Attended an inspirational Women in Academia Workshop this afternoon in @RCSI_Irl. Really motivational to see the different career paths taken by many of the academic staff in both @RCSI_Irl @TissueEngDublin and @ambercentre.
A new RCSI study is the first to simulate catheter tracking in digital patient anatomies for TAVR. Researchers found high tracking forces linked to areas of tissue stress - insights that could guide safer treatment. Read the paper ➡️ doi.org/10.1016/j.comp… #RCSIdiscover
Brand new paper from @claudio_intini published in the International Journal of Biological Macromolecules today on the use of biomimetic reinforced scaffolds in combination with a novel suturing technique for large articular cartilage defects! Read it now: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Delighted to welcome @gduffy00 back to @RCSI_Irl & as new Prof. of Anatomy in @AnatRcsi. Garry brings a wealth of research experience in advanced biomaterials and medical technologies. Exciting times ahead.
Professor Garry Duffy has been appointed as RCSI's 30th Professor of Anatomy and Head of Anatomy and Regenerative Medicine. His appointment supports our focus on integrating health sciences education with innovative, patient-centred research. More ➡️ rcsi.com/dublin/news-an…
