A sleeping Ruby Tailed Wasp taken on the recent trip to Burgos, Spain.

Downy Jumping Spider (Attulus pubescens). A spider I don't see often but always enjoy photographing. @BritishSpiders

The main reason I was in Burgos was to watch this superstar competing for Team England in the Dance World Cup. She came home with two medals. Proud dad! 🏴🏅🏅

Striped Shieldbug (Graphosoma italicum, I think). A shieldbug I've never seen before but have been wanting to find. They were abundant in a patch I explored near Burgos with lots of mating pairs too.

Currently in Burgos, Spain for the Dance World Cup (and photographing the wildlife in the downtime).

Had an amazing opportunity to photograph cuckoos and kingfishers yesterday. Don't often do birds but such a privilege to spend a morning in the company of these beauties. Well worth the 4am start!

Did anyone spot my hoverfly photo on Springwatch? 😁
Just watched #Springwatch and keen to spot hoverflies? 🐝🌿 Use this handy guide to ID species like the marmalade hoverfly & hornet plumehorn 🧐✨ 📸 Spotted any? Share your pics below! More info 👉 wildaboutgardens.org.uk #HoverflyHeroes #WildAboutGardens
Prediction: It's going to be a good year for ladybirds. The larvae are everywhere at the moment! Anyone remember the great ladybird plague of 1976? 😜🐞 #springwatch

A Xysticus crab spider. If you look closely, she seems to be missing an eye 🔎 @BritishSpiders

If you're looking for a mate, you need to find her the perfect gift - preferably wrapped in silk. A male Nursery Web spider (Pisaura mirabilis) carrying a nuptial gift for a nearby female. @BritishSpiders

It seems to be a good year for butterflies—this Small White was one of several species spotted in the garden yesterday. Has anyone else been seeing plenty of them?

Loads of bank holiday bees enjoying the sunshine in the garden this weekend. This one is, I think, a Red Mason Bee (Osmia bicornis).

Just a few of the spiders encountered on a late night walk earlier this week. @BritishSpiders

Plenty of Megabunus diadema to be found on the mossy crags at Brockadale during a late night walk earlier this week.

This is a great thread. One exception being macro photographers who are appreciating the colours nature has to offer and pushing them to the limit.
Every aspect of life is being stripped of color. Many have noticed this trend — but why exactly is it happening? Something deeper is going on… (thread) 🧵
This wins.
This katydid from Ecuador has been affectionately named by photographers "candy-cane katydid". The truth is.. we are not sure which species it is. One possibility is a Harroweria nymph, but until someone witnesses the transformation into the adult stage it will remain a mystery.
A win for the spiders 💪 @BritishSpiders telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/02/1…
