Good to see @ICOnews finally getting tough(ish) with the Cabinet Office. My book on the 1980s Spycatcher Affair described its lengthy history of lying & obfuscation. Spoiler : the Cabinet Office has recently broken its own promise to release its Spycatcher files this month.
The ICO is taking action against the Cabinet Office because of lengthy and unexplained FOI delays. In a new practice recommendation the ICO is highly critical of the Cabinet Office approach to FOI, telling it to supply quarterly updates for monitoring of its future performance.
Very glad you're enjoying the book. I was honoured to tell the stories of these remarkable women - and to piece together the secret history of the sport
Monday Book Choice 📚💕 Girls With Balls @TimTateBooks I’m enjoying the Women’s Euros, and this is a superb book about the history of women’s football
I'll be delighted if he proves me wrong, but I fear this is a very bad decision. Farrell is too slow of foot, hand & thought & his influence has always stifled creative players around him.
All set for his fourth Lions Tour, Owen Farrell will join the squad in Sydney! 🦁 #Lions2025
A fine, honest and sobering analysis from @johnmcdonnellMP. It's depressingly clear that @Keir_Starmer does not hold any fixed principles. Time for a change. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

oooh, can we send them submissions?
It's not often that a British author receives a glowing book review from the CIA (definitely a first for me) ... but the Agency has just published exactly that about my @iconbooks account of the bizarre 1980s Spycatcher Affair, "To Catch A Spy" cia.gov/resources/csi/…

Hey @rugbypass. Your feed of the England v France game has crashed. Message on screen reads "too many requests". Can you sort this out please ?
Amen. 100%. (And add in the UK while we're at it.)
Canada and Australia’s relationship has always been underdone despite our countries having so much in common. @AlboMP and @MarkJCarney are already off to a good start but we should do a lot more. One thing Canada could consider is our electoral system with compulsory voting and…
Lori - the FBI files (which have been available for 30+ years) contain far more interesting names: those reported as actual conspirators. Details in my book
Of all the thousands of pages I’ve read in the new #RFKFiles, this one really got my attention. (Read it and you’ll see why!) Who was Clifford Flitty, and where did he disappear to? The FBI & State Dept looked for him — exhaustively — for months, but never could track him down
Amen to this. Disgusting thievery by @Meta (several of my books have been illegally used - but I am very far from alone: there are thousands of authors affected.)
"This is a blatant infringement of the Author’s copyright" Thank you to @carolynharris24 M.P. for raising awareness in Parliament of our petition with over 50,000 signatures calling for action following Meta’s use of 7.5 million pirated books. #MetaBookThieves #MakeItFair
What SHOULD make them interested is the sharp rise in right-wing domestic terror attacks after Oklahoma. Some involved the same groups with whom McVeigh associated. And yet ... crickets ...
Can confirm. Nobody in US media wants to touch OKBOMB. I know serious journalists and documentary people who've wanted to. But the bigwigs don't want it touched. This has nothing to do with normal politics either. Ds & Rs both want OKBOMB kept quiet. Make of that what you will.
An excellent piece in today's @latimes about the new dump of files on the Robert Kennedy Assassination (& not just because I'm extensively quoted). latimes.com/world-nation/s…
Very honoured to be on in this list ... and in such company ! Thank you @deb_lawrenson

To all American readers thinking 'Gosh, that's good', those of us in the UK (& especially those in our journalism trade) know that the relationship between @DailyMailUK & the truth is largely accidental.
Leavitt: A brand-new poll published from The Daily Mail found Trump’s approval rating at an all-time high. That is because the president's working tirelessly to keep his promises to the American people

Very much looking forward to speaking at @oxfordlitfest about my @iconbooks investigation into the secret history of the 1980s Spycatcher Affair. Date: Weds, April 2 - tickets available below: hope to see you there ! oxfordliteraryfestival.org/literature-eve…
Love a good spy yarn – mixed with grubby politics, shady cover-ups & courtroom drama? If so, join me @oxfordlitfeston Tuesday April 2: I’ll be talking about my book on the secret history of the Spycatcher Affair, MI5, Peter Wright and Margaret Thatcher. oxfordliteraryfestival.org/literature-eve…

The last time I read a legal pleading as bad as this was in the UK government's 1986 attempts to ban retired MI5 officer Peter Wright's memoirs, "Spycatcher". Spoiler alert: as my book on the case described last year, the government lost in every jurisdiction it tried.
