Tourists waiting at the River Kwai Bridge station to board the Bangkok - Nam Tok train. From here, the train will cross the River Kwai Bridge, and also the Tham Krasae Wooden Bridge. There used to be a small shuttle train that ferried tourists back and forth across the bridge,…

If you’re planning to visit the River Kwai Bridge in Kanchanaburi… avoid the weekend. #Thailand #travel

The sun goes down on Chungkai War Cemetery, in Kanchanaburi. The cemetery is a former Death Railway POW camp. The cemetery contains the graves of 1,426 British and 313 Dutch POWs. If you spend some time reading the gravestones… the POWs were so young. Some of the inscriptions…

Popular eatery with rail travelers near Nakhon Pathom railway station. Chicken or pork with rice. Does the job and service with a smile. #thaifood #streetfood

Heading up to Kanchanaburi. It’s two days drive from Krabi, so sometimes it’s nice to let the train take the strain. Of course, there’s no trains from Krabi. Most catch the train from Surat Thani, but I prefer Thung Song… the station is in the centre of town. #Thailand #travel

This newly erected gantry, on the Phet Kasem road in Krabi Town, will mostly go unnoticed. In fact, it's a cunningly disguised monkey bridge, so monkeys can safely cross the road. Monkeys will be able to access the bridge via cables from the trees. #Thailand

The Seahorse Ferry 'Blue Dolphin' berthed at Ko Samui. The ship sails Bangkok - Ko Samui with cars, motorbikes and passengers. Looks like an interesting experience. The vessel sails from Saengthong Rice Pier in Bangkok, through the Gulf of Thailand to Ko Samui. Plenty of…

A dead monk wearing sunglasses at Wat Khunaram, Ko Samui, #Thailand. Luang Pho Daeng passed away in 1973, and his mummified remains are on display at the temple. Luang Pho Daeng was a master of meditation. He could go 15 days without eating or drinking, and despite doctors…

Easing into the weekend. What a glorious day on Ko Samui. #Thailand

The B199 unlimited Sizzler Salad bar has to be one of the best meal deals.

Bored with the rubbish weather in Krabi, we’ve jumped on a ferry to Ko Samui. Thanks to the Highway 44 autobahn, it’s quick and easy to get from the Andaman side to the Gulf side. The Seatran ferry is B550 for the truck, plus B170 per passenger (driver is free). #Thailand

Talumphuk Cape in Nakhon Si Thammarat. We stayed close to the cape last week. Few tourists make it to this area. This is unspoiled #Thailand. You can drive to the tip of Talumphuk Cape. There is a road, but be careful, it can be underwater at high tide. The area is vast. Far…

Just some random stretch of road between Krabi and Phang Nga in #Thailand.
This is the proposed route of the train service to #Krabi. Survey work will start shortly. Construction is scheduled to commence in 2574. The service is due to start in 2578. #Thailand #Thailandtrains

Clouds hanging low over the mountain. There's more to #Krabi than beaches. #Thailand

No messaging apps on my phone... only LINE for video calling. People I want to speak to, know how to contact me. No social networking apps. No FB, Twitter, BlueSky etc. No IG or TikTok. Not much Google stuff installed, only Gmail and Maps. If I need to look for something,…

Ko Phet beach in Nakhon Si Thammarat. The sea defence wall has caused small bays to form. These are great for playing in the water, especially if you have kids. #Thailand
