📕 DYNASTIES: The Ten G.O.A.T. Teams That Changed the NBA Forever OUT NOW! bit.ly/DYNASTIES Featuring 🎨 of @ymhuang_illos The NBA is propped up by dynasties, each one building on the next, taking the game to heights never imagined —and impacting society along the way.

For my debut story at @TheAthletic, I pulled up to watch Derrick Rose play chess. He’s seemingly found fulfillment in his new obsession. Now he’s out here hoping to grow the game: nytimes.com/athletic/64992…
Shotout to the Valkyries man... season ticket guy randomly called and said "hey we see you haven't missed a game, do you want to bring your family down to the tunnel to high five the players on the way out of halftime?" Dope experience for the kids.
It's halftime between the Valkyries and Wings. Golden State trails 36-30. The hosts are shooting just 30.3 percent from the field. And Kate Martin — who is healthy — hasn't played a second. Surprising, especially with Kayla Thornton now out for the year
Here is a look at some executive thoughts on Kuminga
Should Jonathan Kuminga take the qualifying offer? Would the Warriors benefit from re-signing him to a large salary? I polled 16 people from NBA front offices, asking what they consider a "fair" deal for Kuminga. Results in here. Story: nytimes.com/athletic/65152…

Seeing some confusion regarding salary matching in a potential Kuminga S&T. While BYC lowers the outgoing figure to 50% of the actual, salary matching rules still apply on top of it. (Ex: Kuminga signs for $20M, outgoing salary is $10M, Warriors can take back up to $18.5M)
This is one @timkawakami 👇🏾
In 2017 Nerlens Noel rejected a 4yr/$70M offer from the Mavericks as an RFA to sign his $4.1M qualifying offer. He would play 30 games that season after tearing a ligament in his thumb. His next contract was for the minimum salary. Over the rest of his career, he'd make $27M.
My dawg! It was a pleasure grinding for nine years together. Proud of what of you’ve become. You deserve it!
Grateful for my eight years at The Athletic and everyone there that made it so fulfilling. Excited about what’s next at ESPN.
The NBA’s Board of Governors will meet in Las Vegas today. And expansion will be among the discussion items on the agenda. But the league’s new media rights deal may be slowing momentum to add two new teams. With @MikeVorkunov, in @TheAthletic: nytimes.com/athletic/64941…

Here's the latest on Jonathan Kuminga's restricted free agency. The Kings floated an offer. The Wizards have generated some notable interest. A return to the Warriors is still on the table. It remains unresolved after four days. nytimes.com/athletic/64727…

As I wrote on Sunday, the Lakers and LeBron James did not have any discussions about extending his deal beyond this season before he picked up his player option. That revelation means their road ahead is undeniably uncertain. More here, at @TheAthletic nytimes.com/athletic/64615…
THE LAST OF HIS KIND is out in paperback today. It includes a new epilogue about the 2024 Dodgers season. I am biased, but I think it's a good book. hachettebookgroup.com/titles/andy-mc… And we’re still doing bookplates: Send an email to ByMcCullough at gmail dot com.
