I have a history podcast called The American Southwest. I took all pictures unless stated otherwise or they’re of me. http://www.theamericansouthwest.com
New Episode has dropped! The Ancient Ones: Mesoamericans, Man Corn, & Quetzalcoatl in the Heart of Chaco Canyon This 5 hour episode paints a gnarly & interesting picture of the Chaco Canyon Anasazi who inhabited the Four Corners of the American Southwest.

Checked out Fort Sumner & Billy the Kid's Grave (his real one) with some of the Regulators of the Rio Grande. Beautiful Saturday (& hot). The Bosque Redondo Museum was lacking. Not only in substance but also facts.

Sunset amongst the jagged mountains and towering Saguaros.

The Green River violently meanders to the west of the strange Upheaval Dome.

It’s tough to capture the strangeness of Upheaval Dome at Island in the Sky but it’s an awesome place. It’s most likely a meteor crater, which is easy to see from aerial photos.

Monster Mojave Monsoon near Twentynine Palms, California.

South Lookout Peak in the San Juan Mountains of Southwestern Colorado from the Ophir Pass.

My friend took some awesome pictures of me during our adventure.

Heading into the forest for the weekend. Please wish me the best of luck (I’ll be fly fishing the Dolores & West Dolores in the San Juans). Dunton Meadows:

Nobody warned me (everyone who has an angel warned me) that having a kid is the greatest thing ever.

The San Juans are seemingly endless & gorgeous & they’re a great place to escape the heat in. I have plenty of literature on them as well.
Forecasted monsoons have spoiled my Henry Mountains trip this weekend. No worries. Off to the San Juans for a weekend of fishing!

Besh Ba Gowah: the Apache name for the Salado Anasazi Site. AD1225-1400 Migrating Anasazi from Chaco blended with Mogollon & possibly Hohokam peoples to establish this large Great House. They were probably ran off by invading Athabaskans (early Apache).
