On this day 14 years ago, cornerback P.J. Williams committed to Florida State football. A 4-star prospect from Ocala, Williams was a 2-time All-ACC performer. For his FSU career, he had 123 tackles, nine for loss, a sack, a forced fumble, four interceptions and a touchdown.

On this day three years ago, Florida State football safety Jammie Robinson was named to the Jim Thorpe Award watch list. In 2022, he recorded 99 tackles, five for loss, one sack, one fumble recovery and one interception to earn first-team All-ACC for the second straight year.

On this day 39 years ago, former Florida State baseball pitcher and Golden Spikes Award winner Mike Loynd made his MLB debut. For the Texas Rangers, Loynd went six innings, allowing three runs on five hits to earn the win as Texas defeated the Cleveland Indians, 7-3.

Happy 50th birthday to former Florida State baseball pitcher Chris Chavez! Born July 23, 1975, Chavez played for FSU from 1995 to 1999. He remains the last FSU pitcher to throw a complete-game no-hitter (1998). Chavez earned first-team All-ACC and All-American honors as a senior.

On this day three years ago, Florida State football tight end Camren McDonald was named to the John Mackey Award watch list. As a senior in 2022, he finished with 21 catches for a career-high 312 yards and a touchdown as FSU put together their first 10-win season in six years.

Happy 40th birthday to former Florida State men's hoops guard Von Wafer. Born July 21, 1985, Wafer led the team in scoring as a sophomore during the 2004-05 season by averaging 12.5 points per game while shooting nearly 40% from beyond the arc. He spent six seasons in the NBA.
