So much for cheaper U.S.-made cars... One of the biggest U.S. car manufacturers is raising its prices after already laying off workers, all thanks to Trump's tariffs.
Trump's tariffs are hurting American manufacturing, not helping. Families are already feeling the pain of the Trump Slump. These tariffs are just rubbing salt in the economic wound. reuters.com/business/autos…
I'm sorry, but it's preposterous to claim the New Democrats of 1992 fumbled away a durable coalition built by FDR. @BillClinton saved a party which had lost 5 of 6 presidential elections, and he and Obama are the most successful Democrats of our time. nytimes.com/2025/07/22/opi…
On our reading list this weekend: @crampell's insightful piece on why populism isn't the answer for Democrats. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2025/…
As usual, @crampell channels almost precisely what I’m thinking but much more persuasively. Great column on the siren song of populism. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2025/…
The existential threat is our shrinking middle class, @ElissaSlotkin warns, because when people feel they can't get ahead, they blame other people.
"Democrats are the party of government. We believe in government. But government needs to work," says @alfromDLC on how Dems rebuild. More from him and @thirdwaymattb on Dems' comeback, and defending the federal government instead of discrediting it. ⤵️ hubs.la/Q03yBpsq0
"What Democrats need is a clear and compelling roadmap for the future – a change agenda that differs clearly from the path set by Trump and congressional Republicans," says @RepGregLandsman. Check out his economic plan that supports working families. hubs.la/Q03ymqjl0
CBO estimates that Trump's budget plan will add $3.4 TRILLION to the nation's debt over a decade. To visualize, if you had stacked one dollar bills on top of each other 3.4 trillion times, they would go past the moon. This is no small bill.
As @ThirdWayKessler said earlier today, the current moment feels like 2018, and in that year, moderate Dems overwhelmingly won. That must be the blueprint for Dem candidates in 2026 and 2028.
Trump's tariffs have impacted hundreds of consumer goods—and caffeine is no exception. Rising prices are hurting more than just coffee drinkers but also small, locally run coffee shops nationwide, and will only get worse when more tariffs hit on August 1. npr.org/2025/07/21/nx-…
The shrinking middle class is an existential threat to our nation. When people feel like they can’t get ahead. They blame other people.
“To break through, Democrats will have to break some eggs. They will need to speak in ways that may draw jeers from the very online left or the ‘groups’ and see that as a crucial part of signaling to swing voters that the party has learned and changed," says @ThirdWayMattB. Read…
Thanks to Trump's tariffs, families must shop earlier for back-to-school deals, spend more on supplies, and college students will spend more on textbooks, with prices rising 10.3% as of June. Trump has made it harder for students to succeed in America. hubs.la/Q03xMLBq0
Trump slashed funding to @USDA centers that helped over 5,500 small farms and food businesses last year. Our new report shows rural firms are already struggling—94% faced financial constraints in 2024—and cutting support only makes it worse. More info.👇ceopolicy.org/product/8-find…
