Tiffany Thigpen
@ThigpenTiffany
Abuse by a minister lasts a lifetime, twists scriptures as weapons, damages your soul, body, spirit. Makes ugly what God meant to be beautiful. Attended a beautiful wedding yesterday, service well done by Pastor. The traditional scriptures though are triggers for me 🧵
If the only time I want to be like Jesus is when he was flipping tables then I don’t think I actually want to be like Jesus
“Texas just passed Trey’s Law, and that completely voids NDAs in all sexual assault cases. We need that law federal. We need that law nationwide.” Thank you @Stormy_Life_ for your vocal support of #TreysLaw! It’s time to end misuse of NDAs against sexual assault and…
Hey guys, as he tells me not to teach because I’m a woman (scripture tagged) in defense of his girl Meg, who wants to tell him she’s a woman? 🤷♀️ Apparently he’s confused, we are both women & I’m not trying to teach or preach No theological speech in my post “Pigpen”so original
I think Thigpen swims in a theological pigpen, and has zero discernment to see it for herself. I Timothy 2: 12 - 14 come to mind. And these verses: bit.ly/womenteach bit.ly/Foolwomen
Out of 13 defendants named in Cindy Clemishire's Civil lawsuit, still, only 3 have responded. Where are the others? Hiding? Running? Stalling?
As one who grew up Catholic and then joined Protestant churches, I *still* don’t understand protecting a criminal confession in any theological tribe. Restitution is part of repentance. Confessing sin without fruits of repentance is incomplete in the eyes of Jesus. 1/2
JUST IN: A federal judge has barred Washington state from enforcing a law that would have required priests to report evidence of child abuse learned during confession. The Trump administration had intervened on the side of the Catholic clergy. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…
As I journey away from my conservative, Reformed world and study for myself, I find it shocking how much of the theology ends up with gaining and preserving power. 😰
Beware of anyone claiming Christ with these qualities: Makes enemies Hateful Creates strife and contention Full of malice and indignation Fury and rage Seeking status Selfish Causing division and factions Especially if armed with Calvinism…
Pastors are called to pastor the flock entrusted to their care… not to be public theologians with an obligation to speak to media outlets in search of a controversial story. If some indeed choose to do the latter, it may be because they have determined it is in the best…
If you as a pastor have national media outlets calling to ask what your stance on marriage and sexuality is, and you don’t want to take that opportunity to tell them what God’s Word says, I think that’s strange. I don’t know what else to tell you.
You can get a lot more followers on social media by constantly trashing people and starting stupid arguments. But you can't build anything that's enduring by doing this.
How we interpret and use the Bible says so much about the kind of people we are. open.substack.com/pub/benjaminrc…
Revisiting this today as I had my own moment, when we are focused on our walk, our choices, we won't have the bandwidth or pride needed to constantly condemn & police others. It is when we are focused on others we neglect our own growth Not condemn. Love. Humility. Grace.Sourced
I wonder if her Pastors called her out for all of the lies she told in her book, all of the sloppy “reporting” with no basis in fact, no neutrality or hearing from the other side It’s amazing how reckless & diligent they are for everyone but themselves in this little circle 🤢
Dear #SBCtoo survivors & advocates: The SBC's clergy sex abuse crisis is so widespread because, in myriad ways, countless other Southern Baptist leaders enable it. Men like Patterson & Boto. Tell me who YOU think the top SBC abuse enablers are, past & present. And why.
This is unreal for any human being What in the world 🤢
(SBC) First Baptist Church of Dothan "Family pastor fired after arrest for leaving child in car to get drunk at bar." He was described as "fun loving' by the church. christianpost.com/news/family-pa…

We can all be extremely disappointed in Chip and Joanna (and we should be!) But the fact that their church, @AntiochWaco has said not a word speaks volumes. This is a moment for their pastor, @Jimmy_Seibert, to stand up and offer a clear, convictional explanation of the Bible’s…
Donald Trump’s vile name-calling and attacks on those seeking truth about Epstein’s crimes are no surprise to abuse survivors. Many have endured the same deflection and villainizing from faith leaders. Shouldn’t the Church be different??
Reflections and thoughts I’ve been wrestling with these last months and weeks. open.substack.com/pub/abusematte…
