It’s extremely important that throughout an expansion, MMR goes up from season to season (progression!) The same way your ilvl goes up from tier to tier and not DOWN DF is a prime example of the opposite, MMR decrease resulting in a feeling of regression and discouragement
The MMR issue has been discussed at length, but I found this fascinating. My alt rshaman peaked in S1 at 2717 in shuffle. Despite being significantly better at the spec I now float between 22-2300 and can't get higher. The game is telling me I'm worse and don't deserve rewards.
