I personally think the Memphis-Big 12 overture was a last ditched effort to go P4 before finally drilling down on the potential for Football to the P12 and all other sports to the Big East — or a P12 Eastern division for all sports. We will see in the coming weeks/months.

The American Conference is announcing later today a renaming, retiring the names “American Athletic Conference” and “AAC” in place of “American Conference” or “American.” The renaming comes with the creation of various rebranding concepts, including a new mascot: Soar the Eagle.
