And if there was a good deal of superstition mingled with her prayer, the main thing in it was genuine that is, the love that prompted it; and if God heard only perfect prayers, how could he be the prayer-hearing God?
I hate Anthony Fantano so much that I find it difficult to speak coherently about him
Learning Joe Pass' arrangement of Days of Wine and Roses that he recorded with Ella Fitzgerald. Every so often I find myself just floored by how brilliant what he did was. I'll just have to sit and marvel at how he delivered an E7#9

Some people think reading philosophy is bad for you, like it makes you more neurotic or too in your head or whatever. I don't necessarily think that, it's just that compared to reading novels, I have almost no desire to read any philosophy.
I go back and forth about how optimistic I should be about where our culture is, but this is a very good sign
