That was a dreadful performance which lack any real substance. My biggest concern is until yesterday I thought at least we looked decent defensively and in the middle of the park. They could basically cross at will from our right side and a total lack of concentration.
Captain Obvious making an appearance here, but: Losing the triumvirate of Knibbs, Mbengue, and Bindon in the same window makes a uniquely tough rebuilding job even more challenging.

A lack of leadership felt like a problem today too, with no Mbengue or Knibbs, who were such big characters last season. Evident in how much the game increasingly got away from #ReadingFC. Overall a new/young side, and though signings will help, time for them all to get settled…
I think that served to illustrate the gulf between L1 and Championship. Once again we offered absolutely nothing in relation to any attacking threat. Allowing opposition the ability to focus entirely on attacking. 😬
Rubbish end to preseason and, regardless of how relevant this specific game was to #ReadingFC's League One campaign, getting battered 4-0 is ofc a big morale blow on the eve of a new season when you're looking to go in on a high. Equally though, no point writing this team off…
