Laurie Leshin has led JPL through the fires, funding cuts, and has to deal with tightening DEI rules. She was the FIRST JPL Director to secure 8 weeks paid leave for parents. A fierce advocate for science and people. Her leadership will be deeply missed.
Hearing that Laurie Leshin is stepping down as JPL director, effective the end of the month. David Gallagher, an associate director at the lab, will take over.
Keeping my promise to bring my spaceflight and love of science back to my home state. Love my West Virginia family. 💪🏻 Thank you to @marshallu for bringing me home 🫶🏻

Pass the BABES Enhancement Act - something we've been trying to pass for 2 years. A Bill that has unanimous support from both sides of the aisle *when* it is given the opportunity to be voted on. Make TSA more efficient and less stressful for mothers.

Science is one of the United States’ greatest strengths. We are competitive, advanced, and widespread. We are dismantling and destroying that. We are losing one of the best things about this country.
A 47% cut to NASA Science. This could mean entire closure of NASA facilities in various states. This seems to shift NASA's sole focus to human exploration. But I don't want American flags on the Moon/Mars if it means giving up the rest of the universe.
If you care about science at NASA, this is royally sucks. arstechnica.com/space/2025/04/…
Massive (68%) cut to NASA astrophysics proposed in WH budget. If this stands, it's the end of American pre-eminence in space science. arstechnica.com/space/2025/04/…
Thank you @SpaceFoundation for the incredible honor of the Douglas Morrow award. Proud to follow in the footsteps of @neiltyson @BillNye and @andyweirauthor.

I had the great honor to come to the West Virginia Capitol and be honored with a resolution for being the 100th woman in space. West Virginia, I love you, thank you. 💗 @kaylayoungforwv
So fun to meet and talk with the amazing @TheSpaceGal today in the @wvhouse ! Her smile is bigger than she is. She is so patient and kind, eagerly taking photos with everyone who asked, while making each person feel welcome during the brief time she was in the chamber.
This is the FIRST all female flight in history (if you don’t count Valentina’s solo flight 😉) So happy for these women who get to part of history. 💗🙌🏼 See you in Texas! I’ll be there cheering you on 💪🏻🚀

A statement I provided to CNN on @LockheedMartin and @RTX_News pausing Employee Resource Groups and RTX pulling away from the Grace Hopper Conference. I believe companies—both large and small—are being placed in an impossible position: comply or risk losing critical contracts.…
