New version of Actflow Toolbox just released (colelab.github.io/ActflowToolbox/), adding glasso FC functionality. Demo: colelab.github.io/ActflowToolbox… We found that glasso FC is an improvement on the fMRI field-standard functional connectivity measure (correlation): doi.org/10.1101/2023.0…

Peer review sucks, but it beats the alternative - so let’s make it better by keeping in mind that the point of peer review is to provide the authors with a “soft-opening” of their “show” to make sure that they’re ready for prime time. More at onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/cn… @suzanahh
🚨 This work is out now in @PLOSCompBiol! 🚨🧠 This work was a huge labor of love and curiosity during grad school working with @TheColeLab and I'm so pleased to finally share the peer-reviewed study with our community! Enormous gratitude to coauthors @TheColeLab @RUBENSARO…
🎉 New preprint alert! 🎉 “Distributed network processes account for the majority of variance in localized visual category selectivity” Big thanks to coauthors @RUBENSARO @taku_ito1 @RaviMill @BrianKeaneLab @TheColeLab 🧵1/9 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
BREAKING NEWS The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the 2024 #NobelPrize in Physics to John J. Hopfield and Geoffrey E. Hinton “for foundational discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks.”
"Bridging multitask representational geometry and intrinsic connectivity in the human brain" @LakshmanCogSci is presenting at #CCN2024, reporting our latest insights into how connectivity generates representational transformations! Poster A144. More info: 2024.ccneuro.org/poster/?id=313

Lab’s latest: “Cognitive flexibility as the shifting of brain network flows by flexible neural representations”, a solo paper by yours truly, making the case that brain activity flow shifts are essential to mental flexibility (and quite interesting too!) doi.org/10.1016/j.cobe…

This is unbelievable. How can a country that cares about the future begrudge $300 million to unlock the secrets of the mind and cure the most devastating ailments of the soul? This is 0.0035% of the federal budget. If you make 100k a year, this works out to $3.50. A coffee to…
As some of you are well aware, the BRAIN Initiative funding was cut by 40% (braininitiative.nih.gov/news-events/bl…). “This is truly awful, This large cut to the BRAIN Initiative is, simply put, going to kill jobs and hurt patients over the next 10-20 years.” – Kip Ludwig, PhD
Another update on our concussion research project: medrxiv.org/content/10.110…. There are mixed results in the literature regarding the possible influence of concussion history on gray matter morphology. We looked at this issue in ~300 college athletes.
This paper is now published (liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/ne…) led by @hc_bouchard. Briefly, we found disruptions to within and between DMN functional connectivity from baseline to ~48 hrs after concussion. These changes were correlated with symptoms and cognitive performance.
