A lot of people keep thinking they’re somehow immune to the breakdown of social order, maybe because they believe the right things, maybe because they work in the right industry, maybe because they have the right friends. Every last one of them is horribly mistaken.
The “story developing” here keeps making me think they’re waiting to see if he’s going to Hulk Up again.

First time I ever shot a gun was at a rental range. I mentioned it was my birthday (which it was) and they threw in two free magazines on a full auto 12-gauge. That was an interesting way to start.
Share a piece of gun lore about yourself.
Note that “woke right” as a slur has now expanded to include the idea that the United States government has any obligations at all to its own people, who become thus degraded into just another low-priority special interest bloc of the privileged, who owe all and are owed nothing.
This reminds me of a line from Snow Crash: “once the invisible hand had smeared out wealth to a level that a Pakistani bricklayer would consider prosperity…” Countries exist to advance the interests of their own (current) citizens. “You just don’t want your wages suppressed by…
Just got laid off. If you need a web-ish* developer and are hiring remotely, give me a shout. * I have full general development skills, but everything is on the web these days, and so is a bunch of my experience
You don’t run into a lot of US lawyers who can’t speak English, but like the proverbial dog walking on its hind legs it is a wonder to encounter it at all.
The Crown Heights riots were 34 years ago. “Hymietown” was 41. The Black Hebrew Israelites are on the streetcorner every day. None of this is new, but American racial bloc politics and ideological justifications meant that it had to be ignored. Don’t know what to tell you.
“What if the Jews did something to the Germans”, “Hitler was trying to save the world”, “How do we take [the Jews] down?”, “Genocide.” This isn’t 1940s Germany — it’s a 2025 podcast. Suzette, a recent culinary high school grad from south Florida goes full Nazi and Pompano-based…
This is all true; but it’s also true of writers and journalists.
Streaming and to a lesser extent photo/video in social settings is parasitic behavior. Declaring yourself the above-it-all documentarian of those around you. Siphoning value from authentic interactions in your proximity for external promotion. Being there, but not present.

The faintly surreal quality of a real-life experience that plays out exactly like a twitter meme.
From downtown LA my metric remains the same: I’ll believe change is happening when the tent city across the street from my apartment is cleared out. They’ve been there for more than three years and they’re still there right now, the city knows they’re there, but no one cares.
We're seeing encouraging signs of progress in reversing the decades-old homelessness crisis in California. Local reports from some of the largest communities across our state indicate that we're continuing to see more people accepting shelters, services, and temporary housing.
Strikes me as correct, and I will add that on the limited basis that I have any understanding of what “abundance liberals” are, it comes via the vehicle of pundits who catastrophically abused whatever political power they did accrue previously. Abundant baggage, you might say.
2.b And both have no popular grounding whatsoever. They appeal to policy elites, and could shape what policy elite networks do. But the abundance liberals cannot deliver any important voting blocs or industries. They are intellectuals disconnected from any political machine.
