The time has finally come! I am happy to announce that the article I wrote along side @BBPaleo on new diplodocus skin has finally been published in @thePeerJ ! Follow along this thread to learn more about this amazing fossil (link below)🦕 Interpretive artwork by me 1/8

Per @Tessasaurus_rex's many threads on sauropod integument, I explored a greater diversity of visible scales in the arak'tak. I didn't follow any particular specimen, but elements will be familiar. You'll be seeing a lot more like this in September's sauropodomorph episodes.
A selection of the animals the gataregu shares its alpine habitat with: a small titanosaur, an agile oreodont, a pachycephalosaur, and two species of entelodont.
Today I went fossil digging in the Upper Hornerstown formation at @thefossilpark ! We dug through the post apocalyptic ocean of New Jersey. These were my highlighted finds today: a snail shell and cucullaea.

The new drepanosaur is really exciting for a lot of reasons, but I think its important to highlight the paper's interpretation of the integumentary structures.

Quick palaeoart PSA - there's this LACM Edmontosaurus skull with preserved rhamphotheca that's often circulated and used as direct reference for the beak shape. I've seen some art that only references the right side, but a big chunk of the rhamthotheca is missing from that side:
OMG SMILODON GRACILIS CONFIRMED FOR SURVIVING EARTH?? Thats my fav ice age creature :0
Smilodon concept art from Surviving Earth!!!
a very bizarre integumentary structure. Looks "feather-like" but is a completely distinct. Also preserves melanosomes that are very similar in shape to those of feathers. A very weird animal indeed.

I've seen that many in the community use skeletal diagrams and anatomical references without regard for the original artists' rights. Consequently, I've updated my website's usage page to clarify my stance on the usage of these materials. thecodontia.com/licensingpage
