Featuring my series The Man Who Found Birds among the Stars. 7 5-star reviews on v.1: "... a story of flawed heroes and perfect plot, of hard science and tender hearts. It is intelligently written, fantastic entertainment for the imagination." amzn.to/2iTNuUd

#SciFiSat [6/6] [Lug’tei’a (one of my most interesting characters) fills the role of Archbishop Turpin in The Song of Roland, who was the consummate Warrior Priest.]
#SciFiSat [Among the intelligent termite people, an Intercaste is a genetic freak. The aberrations are often hopeless (e.g. it has legs growing out of its head or it has no mouth) & the nymph is destroyed. But an eyed Alate with the mandibles of a Warrior can be quite valuable.]
#SciFiSat [1/6] I had managed to learn a few things about Lug’tei’a’s history and his role among the Marchers. The fortress of his hatching had cast him out when it became apparent that his final molt would produce an Intercaste.

#SciFiSat [2/6] A 4th instar that had never been outside the nursery & bore only the nymph name of “Tei,” he had struggled thru the wastes all the way to the next fortress, arriving at its gates during a dry thunderstorm, mad with thirst and raving what seemed like oracular words
#SciFiSat [3/6] They had needed a Seer, so they had nurtured him and named him “Thunder Eye.” He had grown into a powerful Warrior but a frustrated visionary, for the ancient beliefs of the Desert Shshi failed to satisfy him.
#SciFiSat [4/6] So as a mature Intercaste he had wandered into Marcher country and their fierce Warrior faith had seized his soul. He returned to lead the Desert Shshi against a savage incursion by the Sta’ein’zei, those same Southern Nasute people who were the Marchers’ enemies.
#SciFiSat [5/6] The Desert Shshi had prevailed and now Lug’tei’a was a great hero among both his own people and the Marchers, where he had assumed the role of the High Holy Priest of all the Twelve Fortresses.

#SciFiFri Ian was thinking, The engine will have to be repaired even if I’m dead. Is the god going to miraculously restore all engine function, all of a sudden? The rational element of his mind wouldn’t let him accept such violations of physical law. amzn.to/337Uem0
#SciFiFri And so Ian returned to the task at hand. If the god had decided to delay the fatal strike, that meant it was willing to give Ian Glencrosse one more chance to prove himself as an acceptable sacrifice. And in the meantime, there was an engine to repair …
#SciFiFri “In the meantime it looks like we’re pretty safe, so you interstellar people won’t have to rush repairs. But I don’t want you to dawdle, either, because there are a lot of meteoroids dashing around out there and a lot of radiation bombarding the ship.”
#SciFiFri [1/2] The interstellar Engineers began implementing their plan of scrutinizing every aspect of the TQ engine and replacing the entire set of control wafers. They did find a few dubious-looking connections in the previously repaired electrical grid…
#SciFiFri [2/2] …but they found nothing at all wrong with the reactor itself; so far that dangerous component had behaved like a British gentleman, doing everything required of it in proper stiff-upper-lip fashion.
#SciFiFri The Captain, restored to the dire reality of the present moment, punched up the intercom and yelled, “This is the Captain! Obviously, we didn’t make it off the moon! Go to Stage 2 General Quarters! The grid is acting up, so watch it – the floor may suddenly tilt …”
#vss365 No purple prose, but plenty of "violet" prose! Thanks! @LexiIsAWriter @jamilynewriter @AAnagha197 @voimaoy @SkipSchmidt9999 @bionicanadian @bowengreenwood @ArthurProtheroe
Sembal stood with folded arms, following his brother with eyes that could be as cool as the blue #violets whose color they mirrored or as urgent as a lightning flash in a storm cloud. Just now they were cool – cool and amused. #vss365

He was young, probably not older than Lisarith (it was as difficult for the Siritoch to guess the age of a bearded face as it was for the Epanishai to judge the lingering child-softness of a Siritoch visage), & he had keen, almost #violet eyes between black brows & beard. #vss365
[1/2] A flash of brilliant light, a surge of warmth, cut off his words. The startled companions saw a #violet flame hovering beyond their shell, stabbing the horizontal drift w/ silver darts. “Ah,at last - the storm Troil...” came Gilzara’s voice. “I’ve been wondering...” #vss365
