The NYS Tenant Bloc
@TenantBloc
Tenants are half the state. We keep New York running. If we unite, we can win beautiful, safe, affordable homes for all. Sister org to @housing4allNY.
Freeze the rent. Rent control for everyone.

Great @nysfocus article on the support @ZohranKMamdani received from majority-renter areas. Re-upping a list of resources for folks who want to know more about the distribution of tenant voters in New York State. 1/2 @TenantBloc @tenantspacny nysfocus.com/2025/07/04/ren…
Very proud of @ZohranKMamdani and his whole team. Very very glad to have played a small part! Dems running for local and state (and federal!) office must follow his lead and run for the tenant vote! Wrote abt it here ➡️

“Tenants and Mamdani took a bet on each other. Mamdani’s gamble, rare in politics, was to stand for a controversial policy proposal—a rent freeze—and make an early, unwavering commitment to his chosen team: working-class tenants.” —@taraghuveer go.nybooks.com/4m8hHe2
To understand how @ZohranKMamdani won the mayoral primary by a full 12 points last month, it helps to understand how tenants like Ferdousi Begum and Parveg Hasan decided to go on the offensive against real estate. My first for @nybooks, learned so much! nybooks.com/online/2025/07…
Temu Mamdani
Housing is so backwards in NYC that a property owner is suing their bank TO TAKE the property off their hands. Just when you thought you’ve seen it all.

I just looked up the complaint in this case and it appears that former Assemblyman Burgos (current CEO of HousingNY) is not being honest here. A short thread. The case is New West Harlem Owner LLC v. SIG RCRS LLC, Index No. 651558/2025, filed March 20, 2025 in Manhattan Sup.

Andrew Cuomo won 11 out of 13 majority-homeowner districts — but Mamdani swept the floor in renter-heavy areas, where turnout surged. Story below.

Eric Adams raised the rent for two million New Yorkers — again. Adams’ mayorship is coming to an end. And the rent board that he appointed just chose to raise the rent for two million rent-stabilized New Yorkers, for the fourth time.
My statement on Donald Trump's threat to deport me and his praise for Eric Adams, who the President "helped out" of legal accountability.
Trump falsely suggests @ZohranKMamdani is in the country "illegally" calls him a communist (he's a Dem socialist) and then then goes on to call @ericadamsfornyc a "very good person" who he "helped out a little bit."
New Yorkers are struggling to live in a city that is increasingly unaffordable. This rent increase is a failure for the working class. We must freeze the rent!
NYC Rent Guidelines Board just voted to raise rents by • 3% on 1-year leases • 4.5% on 2-year leases The new increases for rent-stabilized apartments take effect on leases signed on or after Oct. 1
I’m one of the million NYC rent-stabilized tenants. Eric Adams every year has hiked our rent. I made a simple tool showing how much we save under Zohran's rent freeze vs Adams' rent hikes, as well as historical rent trends. ⬇️ Link Below

Ok tenants, it’s time to talk shop. If you’re rent stabilized, you have the option of signing a ONE or TWO yr lease. Something to consider: If a new mayor is coming in and there’s a good chance there could be a rent freeze….⏸️ on signing that 2 yr lease.

Eric Adams’ Rent Guidelines Board just voted to increase your rent for the 4th year in a row. It will be the last. Tenants across NYC have already spoken: we demand a rent freeze, and Zohran Mamdani will deliver it.
