Our EDOs Josie and Hannah, who are completing our update of the Ancient Woodland Inventory, have been at local archives this week, inspecting historical maps with the hope of extending the chronology of woods identified in the update back further than 19th century Epoch 1 maps 🔎

The warm nights have allowed us to moth trap at Jubilee Pasture between Bugthorpe and Kirby Underdale in East Yorkshire. The grassland was looking lovely and we managed to trap a nice array of moths, including the ever popular show-stopper - the Poplar hawk-moth.

Amongst all the wonderful wildlife recorded during our bioblitz at Kilnsey Park Estate over the weekend, we were lucky enough to see the stunning Lady's Slipper Orchid in flower on Kilnsey Flushes. What a beauty! #wildflowerhour #OrchidChallenge
