Today we introduce Fun Fact Friday’s: Did you know Babe Ruth proudly wore another uniform beside his pinstripes. He proudly served in the NYC Police Reserves. While the 1920’s NYC Police Reserves may no longer be active, today we have the Auxiliary Police Section!
Our #operatorofthemonth is Major Charles Ferguson Hoey of the #BritishArmy. In Burma, 1944, his force was met by enemy fire. He seized a Bren gun and led his company to the objective. He reached the enemy first, eliminated the threat before being mortally wounded.

Our #operatorofthemonth is Indian scout Bloody Knife. During the Little Bighorn battle, he warned Custer of the danger. Still, he refused to stay out of the battle and signaled to the sun with his hands, “I shall not see you go down behind the hills tonight.” He did not survive.

Our #operatorofthemonth is Daniel Keighran of the #AustralianArmy. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for actions during the Battle of Derapet in 2010. He repeatedly exposed himself to enemy gunfire to draw it away from a team treating a battle casualty.

Our #operatorofthemonth is #israeli #policeofficer Amir Khoury. He arrived on the scene of a terror attack and shot and killed the terrorist, preventing him from continuing his shooting spree through a Tel Aviv suburb in 2022. However, succumbed to his mortal wounds.

Don’t think the Bronx has seen a pistol like this since we fought the redcoats at Pell’s Point. Nevertheless, this & an assortment of police ‘credentials’ & equipment is what Transit officers found on a man claiming to be a law enforcement official outside a Bronx subway station.
Our #operatorofthemonth is #usarmy Specialist Jason L. Mike. During #OIF , Mike was serving as a Medic during an attack of anti-Iraq forces. He engaged them with his M-9 until his comrades fell injured. He pulled the wounded to safety under fire. He earned the Silver Star.

Let us remember the efforts of our #operatorofthemonth, #armychaplain Matthew C. Christensen, who prevented an intoxicated, suicidal Soldier from striking another with a machete. His efforts ultimately saved two Soldiers' lives. He would receive the #soldiersmedal.
