A correction to the post below: Fleming was buried at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa, but he actually died at his summer cottage, "The Dingle," in Halifax.
Jul 22, 1915: Sir Sandford Fleming, one of the most important figures in Canadian railway development, dies at home in Ottawa at the age of 88. Long a resident of Toronto, Fleming had been present at the sod-turning for the Ontario, Simcoe & Huron Railway in 1851. 1/3

Unlike most museums, the Toronto Railway Museum washes its collection! Thank you to our volunteers who do our train washing. Originally the John Street Roundhouse had a location for washing locomotives, but it was removed during the development of Roundhouse Park.
