Forestry officials will re-open a portion of the road known as Chance Harbour Resource Rd tomorrow (Saturday July 26, 2025). The outside check point will be repositioned at 9 a.m. at the foot of Brian’s Pond. Access will be re-evaluated as suppression efforts continue.

Ground crews at Chance Harbour will continue to work the South and Southeast sections nearest to Jamestown and Winter Brook tomorrow, continuing working on hot spots. The crews made good progress today while working in very difficult terrain.
📢Wildfire Update Fire suppression efforts continue on both the Chance Harbour and Musgrave Harbour wildfires. Ground crews worked both fires all day, with air support from helicopters on hot spots. There has been no growth on either fire. ⬇️

The Chance Harbour wildfire remains very active. Suppression efforts on the southeastern flank of the wildfire continue to be successful, however the southern end and the western edge near the ocean did show some growth today. ⬇️
Wildfire Update The Chance Harbour wildfire is the only fire causing concern at this time. It has grown in size to approximately 1,500 ha. Three water bombers, three helicopters and a bird dog are providing aerial suppression and cabin protection. This work will continue.⬇️
