If you read one novel in 2025, it must be this: "Multi-award-winning author Ewan Morrison’s 9th book is a gripping, high-stakes, high concept thriller, which fuses futurism with a powerful emotional core. Emma is a Silicon Valley prodigy who dies in a secret AI brain chip…

I've had enough; Fargo used to be a predictably safe city; this shooting happened about 3 blocks from my home. I don't recognize the once safe, family and community friendly place I returned to after many years away. What in the hell is happening to our cities and to our entire…
All Utopias fail, H.G Wells finally claimed, after a lifetime of trying to design one - because they are static. They always have to stick to one single master plan. They become rigid, authoritarian & destroy those who do not fit the plan. The tech utopia is no different

Anyone have a dining room table that looks something like this?

Americans no longer have a shared culture. Half of the people haven’t been in country for long so there is no shared history. Many groups just speak their national language. Even religion is no longer a binding factor. Never in history has such a dumb experiment been conducted.
My magnum opus has arrived. Magnum as in 1249 pages, 800 illustrations, most in color, 75 maps, well over a hundred extracts from primary sources, chronologies and lists of key terms. I wrote Volume 1, from the ancient Greeks to the Renaissance, and my oldest friend in academe,…

The surest defense against Evil is extreme individualism, originality of thinking, whimsicality, even--if you will-- eccentricity.“ Joseph Brodsky

“Nonjudgmentalism is not really nonjudgmental. It is the judgment that... everything is the same, nothing is better. This is as barbaric and untruthful a doctrine as has yet emerged from the fertile mind of man.” Theodore Dalrymple
