Marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day a beacon was lit on the ramparts of Carlisle Castle. Beacons were lit across the country as part of the national event Marking 80 years since the end of hostilities in Europe during World War Two.
The final label has been applied to the wall, the spirit levels are satisfied & a truly remarkable exhibition is ready for you to visit. Sheila Fell: Cumberland on Canvas opens 10am tomorrow 23 Nov. We won't say any more, just let these installation shots do the talking.

Marking the 80th anniversary of D Day. A ceremony at Carlisle Castle where a beacon was lit to remember all those who took part in the Normandy Landings during World War Two.
I just had to photograph this great art installation @lowthercastle while on a job there. The 520 flags are quite hypnotic blowing in the breeze. The installation titled OR by Steve Messam @rougeit know for art within the landscape. I am sure the Yellow Earl would have approved

This week I've mostly been photographing politicians. On Monday Treasury Minister Bim Afolami visited North & West Cumbria. On Thursday Ed Miliband was speaking at the @CumberlandCoun Economic Summit. Great to see 300 business and community leaders from across Cumbria taking part
This event just keeps getting better. The Light District: Crown and Coronation by @luxmuralis and @HRP_palaces projected onto the historic buildings of Carlisle.
