Come join my new research group for a PhD at the Unviersity of Liverpool! We are going to make some of the most advanced polymer arcitectures to date, exploring their prospective applications and interactions with biology. Travel to Canada/Spain included! findaphd.com/phds/project/h…
Interested in #Stealth #Polymers? Our collaborative work between the @MannersResearch and @DrWillerth groups on the #Synthesis, #CDSA, and Cellular Interactions of Precision Stealth #Nanofibers made via PET-RAFT #Polymerization is out now in @ChemEurJ ! …mistry-europe.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ch…
Come and join my new group! We have two funded PhD positions available in the areas of supramolecular chemistry and polymer nanotechnology. See fieldengroup.net for more details! RT much appreciated!
A really interesting insight into the backgrounds of Nobel Prize winners... We still have a long way to go before we have equal opportunities for all in society.
What kind of childhood makes a top scientist? Is it enough to have all the right traits (brilliance, grit, etc) or do you need the right family too? And why should we care? A 🧵 on our paper on the Nobel Laureates. A teaser: the income distribution of the laureates' fathers.1/N
There is still time to register for our memorial symposium for Prof. Ian Manners - we have extended the registration deadline to August 16th. We also have a limited number of $100 travel bursaries for those able to make it to UVic in person. Hopefully see you there!
We will be hosting a memorial symposium for my former PI, Prof. Ian Manners (@MannersResearch) at @uvic on August 23rd. You can register for free for this hybrid event at the following link: forms.office.com/r/6wDLk709Kn (Deadline 9th August). Please share! Thanks😊 #CDSA #MainGroup

Our work on the mechanism of action of antibacterial nanofibers is out now in @J_A_C_S. A bittersweet moment for us in the Manners group as we dedicate this paper to the big man himself - this was one of the last papers he submitted before he passed. You'll be missed, Ian!
Check out our recent work by Hayley on the mechanism of action of antibacterial PFTMC-b-PDMAEMA nanoparticles made using living CDSA, just published in @J_A_C_S! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…
The 2023 #NobelPrize in #Chemistry was awarded to Moungi Bawendi, Louis Brus, and Alexei Ekimov for their groundbreaking work on quantum dots. These tiny marvels hold the promise of revolutionizing applications from electronics to medicine. 🏆🧪✨

Delivering medicine around the body is a big challenge. In a new @BioMaterSci paper, the @MannersResearch & @DrWillerth labs test their precision nanofiber delivery system in different conditions. End result? 50% more DNA delivered to brain cancer cells! ow.ly/r8Tx50OmXEX
I am very excited for this new chapter to begin, and for all the opportunities that it will hopefully create!
Excited to announce that I will be co-leading our #nanotherapeutics cluster with @MannersResearch - looking forward to working with @Street_Research @uvic @UVicResearch @UVicECS @chemistryatuvic uvic.ca/research-innov…
absolutley love this cartoon! Thanks @ErrantScience for making it 😃📨📨
Here’s an extra @RoySocChem cartoon we drew for #RSCPoster #RSCChemBio first prize winner @Street_Research, go look at their poster and ask them questions about nanofiber deliveries
I'm not sure if anyone really cares, but if you would like to, you can read about my background and career choices in this thread! 😅
Morning everyone! Today I wanted to tell you a bit more about myself and my career choices. Buckle up! I grew up in London, in the UK. I went to a comprehensive school, and was the first in my family to go to university. I was never sure what I wanted to do when I was older. 1/25
I am looking forward to taking over the @RealSci_Nano twitter account next week! I'll be talking about nanomedicine, my research, and my career journey, mixed in with some photos of my daily life on Vancouver Island - stay tuned! 😀
🏒🏑🏒🏑🏒🏑🏒🏑🏒🏑🏒🏑🏒🏑🏒🏑🏒🏑🏒 Oh look what just dropped! It's the conversation between @Street_Research & @MySci_PK 🥳 Steve will tweet from this account next week and we cant wait! @MannersResearch @UVicScience @the_ScienceTalk youtube.com/watch?v=F5JEzt…
Check out our latest paper on #nanofiber #micelleplexes in @BioMaterSci – we manage to improve the transfection activity by >50% by increasing the length of the polymer! Big shout out to all my collaborators, especially Lennard who is a machine when it comes to cell culture!👨🔬🤖
Check out our recent paper lead by @Street_Research with @MannersResearch published in Biomaterials Science! @uvic @UVicResearch @MechanicalUvic @chemistryatuvic pubs.rsc.org/en/content/art…
