Actually climate change is destroying us - along with a collective failure to address it !
OPINION: Climate change is shaping up to be one of the major issues at next year's general election. ruralnewsgroup.co.nz/rural-news/rur…
Unbelievable protectionist legislation passed by Canadian Parliament contrary to current trade commitments - and what a time to be doing this! @CAFTA_ACCA @TradeWorksNZ
"Supply management complicates trade policy at a crucial time and blocks interprovincial trade, which the Liberals say they want to encourage." Not to mention, it harms Canadian consumers, especially those with low incomes! financialpost.com/opinion/we-nee…
I find it challenging to describe how pathetic I find this: Changes confirmed for New Zealand passport, placing English before te reo Māori Toitū te Tiriti. Toitū Aotearoa! nzherald.co.nz/nz/confirmatio…
Well said New Zealand and partners.

A love letter no-one wants to receive …
Trump says he will set tariffs for 150 small countries in one swoop ow.ly/pg8G106fZsg
Clearly - if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. Protectionism and subsidies never work but governments are always keen to go down this route when others show them the way.
We’re strengthening Canada’s steel industry: curbing foreign imports with tightened TRQs and 25% tariffs on steel melted and poured in China, investing $1B in producers/workers, and mandating procurement to source domestic so that nation building projects are made with 🇨🇦 steel.
Thank God - what a dopey idea to consider leaving the Paris agreement !
Federated Farmers is joining major industry-good bodies in not advocating for the Government to withdraw from the Paris Agreement. ruralnewsgroup.co.nz/rural-news/rur…
Further informed analysis of the New Caledonia political agreement - thanks Nic. Will be interesting to see reactions to this in close neighbour NZ (surprising the lack of attention to this here).
With #NewCaledonia’s new political agreement, the devil’s in the detail. My @IBIupdate story looks at the Bougival Accord, signed on 12 July, and the long (and likely contested) process to implement its provisions. islandsbusiness.com/news-break/dev…

Only NZ First should be allowed to “to force cultural, (definitely not woke), or divisive political ideology down the throats of others” …
New Zealand First has today introduced a member's bill which would make it law that government buildings can only display the official flag of New Zealand. Government buildings are for all New Zealanders and should not be hijacked to force cultural, woke, or divisive political…

“We know the UN needs reform, and we know how difficult that can be. But its strongest critics are sometimes those who make both its effectiveness and its reform most difficult: its member states”
#UN80 | "It is unsurprising that in today’s world certain leaders want to see the #UN on its knees, and to shrug off what they see as the tedious constraints of the rule of law", write Ban Ki-moon and @HelenClarkNZ at @TheEconomist. economist.com/by-invitation/…
A successful overseas visit by PM Luxon. Did the business in China. said the right things. Met a lot of powerful friends in Europe, avoided complicated entanglements. Demonstrated support for Ukraine & the international order. A good outing for our independent foreign policy!
The world must be safe. Peace must prevail. New Zealand’s support for Ukraine is unwavering. It is support for Ukraine that brings peace to the world and security closer for all nations.
Looking forward to this kōrero @The_ANZLF
