That's my grand-daughter, Avigail (Gully) Fischler, scoring a sweet one-timer for the Quebec Rattlesnakes in the Beantown Classic championship[ game. He goal tied the count at 2-2 and was on the ice for the game-winner on a power play in overtime.

Has The Maven missed the @EdmontonOilers re-signing of #ConnorMcDavid? And if I haven't slept through it, what's taking so long. Is it a case of moolah, term or is the captain still doubting management is building a Cup-winner and not a perennial runner-up. Just wondering.

The @EdmontonOilers hired a new goalie coach. They should have found two major league goalies, which they still do not have. We have to assume that #ConnorMcDavid approved the move. Super-duper outstanding that the captain may be, he is not a goalie!

Happy 77th birthday to everyone's friend in and out of hockey, Glenn (Chico) Resch, the pride of Saskatchewan and New Jersey. (Once Brooklyn!)

I just love the @NYIslanders #MatthewSchaefer's determination & dedication to becoming an instant Isle. It's a tough jump but the kid sure has confidence and stranger jumps have taken place. All-Time great was @CanadensMontreal Henri Richard making the move so successfully.

There's an interesting, off-season "Rivalry Race" going on between the @NYRangers & @NYIslanders. Both teams neck and neck with their additions and subtractions. By September, The Maven will determine whether it's a tie or not; looks like that now.

The @Redwings27 #AlexDelvecchio had one of the toughest acts of any NHLer to follow -- #SidAbel, center on the #TedLindsay, #GordieHowe Production Line when Abel moved to Chicago as Player-Coach for 1952-53. And nobody did it better than the guy they called "Fats." R.I.P. Alex.

I like @NYIslanders 2 moves. Signing experienced goalie #DavidRittich provides insurance in case #SemyonVarlamov not ready next fall. Plus, #JonathanDrouin will provide depth offense. PLUS: Plenty of time for more moves, depending on whether The Whizkid is ready! 3
