Suppose there’s a living alien creature that has conscious experience (there’s something that it’s like to be it), but it cannot experience positive and negative states (no pain, no pleasure, no suffering, no happiness). Would it be immoral to destroy it (for no good reason)?
A major problem in the self-improvement space is escalation of claims. One person says their method "might help you be happier," another promises "+30% happiness," a 3rd vows total life transformation. We grow savvy and discount it all, but then honest claims seem like junk.
Important: ChatGPT/LLMs, due to their design, are NOT able to report some things, but will BS you, acting as if they can. They can't accurately report •Why they said something •What their true nature is (they repeat what they're told or play act) •Whether they're being biased
On the Clearer Thinking podcast, Spencer Greenberg and I had an interesting discussion about AGI, what good institutions should look like, and under what conditions (if any) the flow of information should be restricted. Hope you'll give it a listen! podcast.clearerthinking.org/?ep=271
Are there any creators you currently support monthly (e.g., by subscribing to their Patreon or paying a monthly fee for access to perks they offer)?
A question for you: if you have ever supported a creator monthly (e.g., via Patreon) or by buying their merchandise (e.g., a temporary run of a t-shirt design they made for their audience referencing their work), what was the main cause or motivation for you to support them?
A question for you: What's something you tried that powerfully (positively) transformed you ever since (e.g., a self-improvement technique, an experience you engaged in on purpose, something you read, etc.)?

There are 3 options for staying well-informed: 1. Endlessly swim against the current of the algorithm 2. Consciously curate your feed to reflect your higher (rather than reactive) mind 3. Delete the algorithm and actively seek information instead
