Can't wait to finish up Acts 15 today. We're going to go over the letter from the Jerusalem Council and the split between Barnabas and Paul. Looking forward to gathering with the saints who are CrossPointe Church.
The stock market is going to do well with inflationary tariffs because companies pass the taxes to consumers. The goal of tariffs is to make most of the nation poorer by making basic needs cost more.
How many decades did it take for Nashville's Broadway to smell so distinctly of stale beer and barf on a summer morning?
I'm sure not all the cuts are good, but the assumption that government should never get smaller is unhelpful.
Remember: The purpose of tariffs is to make most Americans poorer.
Perhaps some have created an idol out of family, but I have not seen it. It seems to be a criticism that has almost no teeth. God created us for family, both natural and spiritual. But the former (natural) does not wither due to our adoption by grace. If anything, it increases…
I'm looking forward to teaching through Acts 15:1-21 this morning. Nothing like a little Law-Gospel question to start the week off well. The local church is the place to be.
A first today: I attended a gender reveal. It was about a couple unexpectedly pregnant after 9 years after their 5th child. They used it to celebrate the new life and their openness to it. Pretty cool, all in all.
Re-reading this short book and remembering how good it is.

Benjamin Myers’ 2019 sonnet cycle Black Sunday has been named one of the “Five Best: Stories of the Dust Bowl” by The Wall Street Journal, earning recognition alongside John Steinbeck’s “The Grapes of Wrath.” baptistpress.com/resource-libra…
This little book from Christian Focus is a good primer on congregational singing.

Someone just unironically used "I spoke my truth" in an email to me and I think that's actually a first.
I'm looking forward to teaching on Acts 14 this morning in Sunday School. We're going to talk the second half of Paul and Barnabas's missionary journey. We'll see persecution, stoning, a possible resurrection (?), and incredible spread of the gospel in the face of adversity.
