Bleacher Report's Grant Hughes graded every NBA team's offseason and gave the Celtics a C. "None of this has been any fun for Celtics fans, who are probably experiencing whiplash with a championship and a teardown separated by 13 months. But Boston had to do this." Fair?
ESPN’s @zachkram ranked every team’s worst move since 2020. The Celtics came in at 22 for trading the pick that became Desmond Bane in a deal to dump Enes Freedom’s contract. Agree with this as the Celtics' worst move of the decade?

Who do you think is the Celtics' biggest rival right now?

According to @TheSteinLine, “Boston continues to explore trade options with newly acquired Anfernee Simons.” As fun as it’d be to see him on the Celtics, his $27.7M salary might be too steep for ownership, especially in a gap year without Tatum.

Celtics reporter @BobbyKrivitsky mentioned Jordan Goodwin as a free agent worth watching for Boston. The Lakers waived him over the weekend to make room for Marcus Smart. Goodwin averaged 5.6 PPG and shot a career-best 38.2% from three last season while bringing strong defense.

Celtics' pace in each of the past three seasons, and where they ranked in the NBA (per NBA.com): 2023 - 99.15 (20th) 2024 - 97.98 (19th) 2025 - 96.59 (29th)
The Celtics ranked 29th in PACE last season — their 7th straight year in the bottom half of the league (since 2016-17). With more athleticism on next year’s roster, they have a chance to speed things up. Guys like JB, Pritchard, Hugo, and Walsh could thrive in a faster tempo.
During Jaylen Brown’s All-NBA season in 2023, he totaled 495 transition PTS (3rd in NBA) and averaged 7.4 transition PPG (4th). His 66.9 eFG% also ranked first among the top 15 transition scorers in the league. Would love to see him get more opportunities to push the pace.
Bleacher Report’s @danfavale gave Hugo González a C- for his Summer League performance. He credited González for his unselfishness, passing, and motor, but highlighted Hugo’s offensive inefficiency as a key concern. Fair grade for the Celtics rookie?

Al Horford reportedly has a verbal agreement with the Warriors, per @BrettSiegelNBA. The deal is on hold as Golden State finalizes negotiations with Jonathan Kuminga.
Al Horford and De'Anthony Melton are widely expected to sign with the Warriors, sources said. A handful of teams at NBA Summer League stated Horford and Melton already have verbal agreements in place with Golden State. Jonathan Kuminga's situation is holding these deals up.
The Celtics are hiring Drew Nicholas as their new Executive Director of Player Personnel, per @MikeAScotto. Nicholas was the Director of Scouting for Denver during their championship run in 2023 before joining the Nets as a scout last year.

The Celtics reportedly "had some recent dialogue" with Ben Simmons, and are interested in signing him, per @TheSteinLine. They'd need to free up another roster spot in order to make it happen. Should the Celtics take a swing at the former All-NBA player?

That’s a wrap on the Celtics’ 2025 Summer League! Final: Celtics 101, Hawks 77 It was cool to see some of the bench players get opportunities to finish the summer. Isaiah Wong: 18 PTS, 6 AST Jalen Bridges: 16 PTS, 3 REB Ben Gregg: 13 PTS, 8 REB
Halftime: Celtics 48, Hawks 39 No Scheierman or Walsh is allowing others to step up. Amari Williams' passing has been particularly impressive. Kendall Brown: 10 PTS, 1 STL, 1 BLK Amari Williams: 6 PTS, 8 REB, 4 AST Zach Hicks: 9 PTS, 2 REB
Happy Celtics gameday!☘️ They wrap up their Summer League season tonight vs. the Hawks. Last Celtics basketball game for a couple of months—hopefully it’s a good one. 📺6 PM ET on ESPNU

Puke. This offseason has been a nightmare.
BREAKING: Marcus Smart has agreed to a buyout with the Wizards and intends to sign a two-year, $11 million deal with the Lakers, per @ShamsCharania

Hugo González played his cleanest game of the summer so far against the Lakers last night: 13 PTS | 5 REB | 2 AST | 1 BLK The numbers don't pop, but he's done a great job of playing to what his role will likely be with the Celtics. Excited to see him continue to grow.
Jordan Walsh bounced back from Monday's ejection with a strong outing against the Lakers: 17 PTS 6-11 FG 2-4 3PT 6 REB 1 AST 2 STL
