How does the DMN contribute to creativity? Our new review with @Roger_Beaty and Emmanuelle Volle explores 4 novel trends in research: (1) causal links to creative abilities, (2) associative thinking, (3) idea evaluation, and (4) diverse functional integration.

I enjoyed writing this article with Mathias Benedek, where we imagine the future of creativity testing, building on PISA's 2022 Creative Thinking assessment. We're hoping to turn these ideas into reality in the coming year. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jo…
New paper: AI can generate creative ideas when prompted—but can it actually improve our own creativity? In 2 studies (total N = 36,752), we show AI can enhance human creativity through real-time feedback, helping people better evaluate their own ideas. osf.io/preprints/osf/…
Thrilled to share our latest work in @Nature studying inter-brain neural dynamics in both biological and artificial intelligence systems — amazing work by @xzh_brain, Nguyen Phi, and fantastic collaboration with @JonathanCKao! Read the full article here: rdcu.be/euu5Z
Can we record and study human chains of thought? The think-aloud method, where participants voice their thoughts as they solve a task, offers a way! In our #CogSci2025 paper co-led with Ben Prystawski, we introduce a method to automate analysis of human reasoning traces! (1/8)🧵
Excited to see our work highlighted in today's New York Times article exploring the potential benefits of intentional mind wandering in creative thinking! nytimes.com/interactive/20…
🚨Check out our recent preprint on human-AI co-creativity in story writing! 🔍🔍🔍We investigate the mechanisms that underlie the outcomes of human-AI co-creativity in a highly naturalistic setting. doi.org/10.31234/osf.i…

The Creativity Choice is OUT! All interviews teach something new about what people find meaningful and what are the insights from the book they gain. Honored to have spoken with @NPR's Short Wave #creativity #innovation #books npr.org/2025/05/06/126…
⚡️New paper alert! How does aging shape our question-asking and creative abilities? Older adults ask less original questions but outperform at novel uses of everyday objects. Huge thanks to co‑authors @michelethediaz and @yoed_kenett Check it out below👇 tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…
Agreed. The behavioral and social sciences should rely more on open LLMs: doi.org/10.31219/osf.i…
Again, I think academics have perhaps not quite groked what this sort of wholesale removal of a model means for replication in science. This isn’t versioned or downloadable, and you won’t be able to recreate it
