She looked up at the girl who'd picked her up. She recognized her as a streamer. Mem was her name. She had been on her way home when that trafficking ring had grabbed her as goods. A quirked girl who can turn into a cat. An exotic pet people would die for. "Mrow..."
"Poor thing..." Seeing her injuries, Mem came to the grim realization that the kitten had been abused—no doubt by humans. Brow furrowing, she'd carefully scoop her up with her hands, bringing her close to her chest. The least she can do is take her home and clean her up.
"Oh I guess I should explain that. I am pretty sure I'm from a completely different time period and in a different country than I was back home. I'm from Japan in truth. A more um... advanced technology age."
His expression gives away nothing, but Ciel finds the last statement curious. "Further into the past?" That would imply she had visited some far-off future. If so, could she perhaps be more useful to him than he initially believed?
"What war?! I mean we have to fight villains a lot, but never has it expanded into war. Maybe I'm just from a different Japan?"
"Honestly it's just impossible to believe someone from Japan wouldn't know about this stuff. I mean we were at war only a few months ago..."
She bowed her head, "Yes of course Sir. I promise to be useful to you. I'll stay out of your way. Thank you for letting me stay here. I really wouldn't know where to go. This is a lot farther in the past then my own time." Also a completely different country but still.
"For now, you may join Mey-Rin or Finny in their daily tasks, but you are to stay clear of the kitchen and my study." He gave her a sharp look. The last thing he needed was some otherworldly cat stirring up his allergies.
"I swear that I am. I'm from Tokyo. What will it take to prove it."
"That simply isn't possible."
The kitten meowed weakly. There was clear signs around their necks of rope burns and a few cuts in her fur. She was so weak and tired.
