#SOA25 Wrapping up Day 1 with an important reminder that communication is a skill to practice and regular updates and simulations to make sure we are meeting our patients and their families where they are is vital #vitaltalk

guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/current-vacanc… Lovely ICU Occupational Therapy Job between Harefield and Brompton. Take a 👀
ICUsteps Active Post intensive care recovery ICUsteps Active has emerged as a beacon of support, offering an online physiotherapy programme tailored for individuals. We’re now recruiting for our next cohort of patients see icusteps.org/professionals/… #MyRehabGoal
Grounding techniques like this one can help us when we’re feeling out of touch with our body and surroundings. They can help us reconnect to the present moment.
Are you a UK-based clinician working with people who've had a TIA or minor stroke in the past year? Help us improve psychological care by taking part in the @OPTIMISE_study online survey. It only takes a few minutes! forms.office.com/e/RWuWQgbwYW @DrEiriniKontou @ARC_EM @InstituteMH
Thank you so much to all who have participated in or shared this study! I'm six interviews in with more booked, but would love to hear from more #ICU #CriticalCare nurses or ACCPs at all levels. @BACCNUK @cc_sn1 @CC_3N
Dear #Rehablegends This is why we worked so hard ⬇️ @NCEPOD Raising the visibility of the lack of #Rehab services for all patients We will make it better 💪 and this report allows us all to petition harder and improve our services #RehabMatters #RightToRehab @thecsp
It’s great to hear from colleagues nationally that in response to the @NCEPOD report findings and recommendations they have now been able to add #ICURehab to the trust risk register. Such an important step towards improving care for survivors of critical illness
Survivors have suffered for too long, this report must be a catalyst for change
New report out today! A review of the quality of rehabilitation care after an ICU admission: ncepod.org.uk/2025icur.html @Davido744 @BACCNUK @ICS_updates @theRCOT @thecsp @BDA_Dietitians @rcgp @RCSLT @FICMNews @ICUsteps @UKCCNA @RCoANews @GeriSoc @HQIP
Do you work in a UK ICU? Does your ICU have access to a fresh air space for your patients and visitors? Click here and tell me all about it! I am doing a PhD to build the evidence on the impact of #FreshAirTherapy for #ICUPatients It only takes 3 mins!
#IntensiveCareWeek2025 Day 6 & final info poster with a focus on the role of #occupationaltherapy in ICU Survivorship. OT offer supports to community dwelling adults recovering across all elements of life. @ICS_updates @GSTT_ICU Poster Credit: @OTstephanieMY & @KateBrooksOT
#SOA25 this year’s takeaways! Communication & Collaboration are vital Education is a must Individualise care Small changes can make a difference Patients are central in their stories & this extends beyond ICU! Critical care leaves a legacy so whats it going to be for your patient

#SOA25 Closing Congress with a reminder that “the naked ape” is not the only species on the planet and we have a lot to learn from the animal kingdom. Well done to all the “volunteers” and a special thanks to the animal contestants 🐍🐢🐌🦎🐇🦗🪱🕷️

#SOA25 Congratulations to this year’s winners 👏🏻 such an amazing range of inspirational multi professional work & research from all those involved! Excited to see what the future brings… Save the date #SOA26 Birmingham 30June -2July

#SOA25 Where’s your MORAL balance? Better Ethics come from better justifications! Fantastic practical and interactive session to explore the use of the Moral balance scale-must watch. “A Framework is a map it’s not the final destination but rather a step forward to get us there”

#SOA25 AHP Capability framework 1 yr on… Early start to learn from each other & explore how we use this? How easy is this to use? Can you use this to think outside the box? showcase your team/service? map your own/team profile as a platform for learning & development? What next?

When should we be doing #AdvancedCarePlanning? The answer is in the name… It shouldn’t be done in an emergency. All members of staff asked thought #ReSPECT was great but struggled to find a ‘good time’. *we won’t rob people of help, we can write down their wishes* #SOA2025
#SOA25 Day2 Takeaways Palliative care is not just talking about dying it’s about “what matters most” to patients & their families Listen to understand, not to respond Don’t assume-ask them! Get to know your palliative care team The opportunity to talk is empowering & liberating

#SOA25 Sedation & Delirium in ICU needs cultural change! But the local context, structure, care bundles & behavioural science are key. Think *Individualised Care *Regular Communication *Advanced Planning - ask the “When do we do when” (Day vs Night) *Team Approach *Daily Goals

@theRCOT Two OTs spreading our unique role on ICU via the AHP professional advisory group #OT @ICS_updates #SOA25 OT vision spreading …. More to come
#SOA25 Day 2 with the NCEPOD, Key take away messages “Who’s advocating rehab across the whole patients story and how?” “How are you going to make it count” “Measure what you do because it’s probably not what you think”
