On Tuesday evening, I joined many others, including state Sen. Dave Argall, at the Pines Eatery and Spirits in Hazleton to celebrate Hazleton-area resident Guillermo “Memo” Lara's reappointment as a member of the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs.
To prevent student-athlete deaths from sudden cardiac arrest, the Senate passed Senate Bill 375 requiring schools to have automated external defibrillators (AEDs) present at sporting events. It also requires schools to develop and rehearse emergency plans for cardiac incidents.

Thank you to PA Senator David G. Argall and the Senate Majority Policy Committee for hosting a hearing on rural dental care on Wednesday, June 18th, in Tamaqua. Dr. Karen Rainey, Director of the Dental Health Department at LCCC, offered testimony regarding dental health needs.
I was excited to attend, along with Sen. Dave Argall and other local officials, Thursday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Vytal Plant Science Research (VPSR) Mobile STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Training Lab for the Hazleton Area School District.
