A packed Market Fest in White Bear Lake, plus perfect weather for Public Safety Night. Huge thanks to White Bear Lake Police and the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office for keeping our community safe.

I'm sad to hear about the passing of Bruce Anderson. He was a thoughtful colleague. We’d often chat about family, weekends, and life at the Capitol. He was a good guy and always warm and gracious toward me. My thoughts and prayers are with his family today.

"From a year earlier" This seems important considering Trump promised your family he'd lower the cost of living if he was elected. 👇
Breaking News: Consumer prices accelerated in June, rising 2.7% from a year earlier, as tariffs started to leave a bigger imprint on the U.S. economy. nyti.ms/44Ofmhq
Kids can't learn on an empty stomach. Starting this fall, all New York public school students will have access to free breakfast and lunch. It just makes sense.
It strips Minnesotans from access to healthcare and food assistance (including ~30k veterans) while adding 3.3 trillion to the national debt. So yeah, it's going to have some critics.
For now, the budget bill is unpopular, according to polls ranging from the Washington Post to FOX News, in which, on average, 55% of surveyed Americans opposed it, while 31% supported it. kstp.com/kstp-news/top-…
What do you get with total Republican control? A bill that hurts everyone from students to farmers. Strips away healthcare and nutrition assistance from millions of Americans. Gives huge tax cuts to millionaires and adds 3.3 trillion to the national debt.

Yesterday, Trump illegally cut off funding for public schools, precipitating a huge crisis for thousands of schools. This is a result of the recent Supreme Court ruling neutering federal courts. 1/ A dystopian new reign of lawlessness is likely coming. Let me explain.
Breaking News: The Trump administration declined to release nearly $7 billion in school funding that helps pay for after-school programs and other services. nyti.ms/4lcKvlQ
It shouldn't get lost that just today, Senate Republicans have voted to close nursing homes, close rural hospitals, and cut food stamp benefits for children and veterans.
Trump’s Dept of Ed is delaying $5B in K‑12 funding, hitting after-school, teacher training, and English learner programs. In Minnesota, federal $$ make up 10%+ of school budgets. No matter where you live in Minnesota, this hurts our students. #FundOurSchools #MNedu #mnleg
Education Department set to pause billions in grants to states amid ‘review’ ow.ly/bO1g106eotX
Just when I thought the big, beautiful bill couldn't get any worse, it has. If R's amendments go through, the number of Minnesotans losing health insurance will top 300,000.

We said goodbye to a legend today. Rest in peace, Speaker Hortman. You and your husband Mark changed so many lives for the better. #mnleg

Former President Joe Biden, paying his respects to Speaker Emerita Melissa Hartman, her husband Mark and their golden retriever as they lie in state at the Capitol.
So grateful our buddy is recovering ♥️♥️
The Hoffman family just shared with me this photo of former President @JoeBiden visiting them in the hospital. It’s the first picture of Senator John Hoffman since his attempted assassination. @kare11
NEW: Twenty US Catholic bishops — invoking Pope Leo’s moral leadership — condemn Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill,” calling its cuts to health care and food aid “an affront to the dignity of human life.” They call on the Senate to completely reject the legislation.
The line is long, the mood is somber, and quiet conversations reflect the deep respect so many had for Melissa and Mark Hortman.

We just unanimously passed a bipartisan bill honoring the lives of Melissa and Mark Hortman & condemning political violence. As their kids Sophie and Colin said - let's continue honoring their memory by doing something to make our community just a little better for someone else.
This is incredibly sad news. My prayers are with her family.
