Just as a simple, unbiased, non conflicted medical opinion. I would not have myself, my children or any of my family anywhere near asbestos. The risk and the long term impact is just far too severe
A key question for the PSNI: was their risk assessment made before or after additional loose asbestos was found on this site by NIEA? We’re currently trying to get an answer to that question. belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-…
Remember when there was an attempt to gaslight us all into believing Doug Beattie was a progressive?
The UK must immediately recognise Palestinian statehood. There can be no two state solution if there is no viable state left to call Palestine.

Blue bin collection issues in some of the Looplands today. Please keep your bin out so that teams can get to it tomorrow. Thankfully, there are fewer missed collections here than there used to be, but occasionally it's still a problem.
My Irish citizenship is not second-class to Mary Hanafin's. Irish citizens here in the North should have a voice in the election of the Irish President. #Áras25
Should people in NI be allowed to vote in Irish Presidential elections? Fianna Fáil’s Mary Hanafin says “Not yet, and not in isolation. I think there’s not enough understanding between communities within Northern Ireland and North-South.” #aras25 irishtimes.com/ireland/2025/0…
🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ A wonderful night yesterday at the launch of Belfast Pride 2025! One of my favourite nights of the year.

Words failed me when I was contacted about this. @EastBelfastGAA are probably one of the most active and successful integration efforts in the East of the city. Those who continue to oppose them, and particularly the kids involved, are mean-spirited dinosaurs.

From the point I first became aware of asbestos at this site, my priority has been to protect people’s safety. It’s utterly reckless to encourage people to attend this bonfire tonight. Huge questions remain for the NIEA and their complete absence over the past few weeks & months.
11pm Statement from NIEA confirming more asbestos found on the Broadway site. The safest thing anyone can do is to stay away - don’t put yourself, or your family at risk. Don’t listen to those who’d encourage you to take that risk for the sake of petty politics.
NEW statement to me from @daera_ni NIEA: “Following the latest inspection of the Meridi Street bonfire site, the Northern Ireland Environment Agency can confirm that fragments of suspected asbestos were found at five locations around the site. Approximately 20 kilogrammes of…
If the NI Environment Agency has found more asbestos on the Broadway site, as I’ve feared all along, then it is totally reckless for anyone to encourage people to go to that location or participate in any activity there.
Lots happening at same time and all clear as mud, but v clear to me that there is a significant public health risk from asbestos at the Monarch Parade site. Where is NIEA? Where is the Environment Minister? Where is the public safety and health message? Where is common sense?
I will not be deterred from my work as a Councillor by the very blatant & dangerous attempt tonight to paint a target on my back. I am just one of many elected representatives who articulated concerns for people's health, and their safety in relation to the Monarch Pde bonfire.
I do not use this platform anymore, however I am compelled to state that the primary consideration about the Broadway bonfire should be the risk to people’s health & safety. I am aware of untrue, potentially defamatory remarks posted about me here and have sought legal advice.
I understand why it’s hard to let go of this platform, particularly as it has been a force for good and a source of many friendships, but El*n is just going to continue to weaponise it to support far-right causes, and undermine legitimate movements. Come join us elsewhere 🦋
“I have one life and one chance to make it count for something… My faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference.” President Jimmy Carter 1924-2024. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.

Ok. Turning notifications off here. I’ve loved most of my time on Tw*tter, but I cannot keep enabling the platform to be manipulated for right-wing radicalisation. Find me: 🔵🦋 SeamasBelfast 🧵 and 📷 AdventuresOfSdF 👤📖 SeamasBelfast
Schools in Northern Ireland are dominated by the church so I don't believe this one bit.
