I wrote a fantasy book. http://amazon.com/dp/B08X324BC6/… I'm also posting some things here: https://scurra.substack.com My tweets at the link below.
A prophet, a mercenary, and a doctor walk into a tavern. The doctor starts to tell about a plague. The prophet interrupts him and says “I know how this ends.” Three tales of leadership and trust set in a fantasy world rebuilding after a calamity. amazon.com/dp/B08X324BC6
News from the garden front: It was sweaty work keeping watch for more of those nasty pests, but the locals liked my increased attention. The baths didn't run low since they were refilled far more often today. However, some customers were upset that they had to wait.

#satsplat We live so close and everything's so plentiful, yet you hoard every drop of drink and morsel of food. You nary leave any for me. But inch by inch, foot by foot, I’m catching up. In 50 years I’ll have you, and then we’ll see. WE WERE ACORNS ON THE SAME BRANCH, BRAD!
News from the garden front: It was a rough one today. I was up before dawn and yet still not early enough to prevent the loss of some of my kale. In addition, it was so hot today that yet again the squirrels were melting. Hopefully, we get the rain forecasted for Sunday.

#vss365 #violet A special thanks today to @DanielleSteJust who inspired me with an image that I could not get out of my head, and a lot fewer thanks to the berry thieving robin I posted a picture of yesterday who features prominently here.

News from the garden front: This young starling had a lot to say to me. He tried every one of the hundred languages he knew to tell me something, but learned I'm a dolt. Besides, I was ignoring him. He was probably telling me to get out of his yard like all the other birds.

News from the garden front: THIEVES!!! Not one but two thieves raided my meager garden today. The first at the break of dawn munched on my beans and when confronted played innocent. The other, a purple beaked berry thief, showed not a bit of remorse as he gobbled my blackberry.

Three copper pennies Exude more hope than gold Clutched in a tiny hand Held close to a heart unsold Commotion of chaos rings Foreboding spikes tenfold Yet all that matters is now Tears hide a tale untold #vss365 #inkmine #fromoneline #poetry
News from the garden front: I got a visit from royalty. And while I don't like to complain, it was very early in the morning. And even though the gentle light of dawn looked lovely shining through her wings, I wasn't exactly pleased to be outside in my PJ's to get the picture.

News from the garden front: Thirty were sown. Only ten saw the light of day. What calamities befell them we'll never know. Of the nine survivors, a few fell to the elements, but most were taken by the enemy. Only one made it through. He's not very tall, but he is my sunflower.

They say that comedy is a fine art, And diligent study sets one apart; But riveting storylines That lead to clever punchlines, Get far fewer laughs than a well-timed fart. #satsplat
News from the garden front: The long watch continues and today another 3-lined beetle made an appearance. I hope it didn't lay any eggs. But anyways, here is a nice sunflower. You can tell it isn't mine because I'm looking up at it and it has yet to be attacked by a squirrel.

News from the garden front: INVASION!!!! These vile buggers attacked my cape gooseberries. Apparently, 3-line beetle larvae love to eat tomatillos which are close relatives to these plants. Luckily I got them before they ate too much. And yes, they are covered in their own poo.
