I love the Wendigo monster. I just learned a new bit of Wendigo lore - it grows a little bigger with each victim. This fits into Lovecraft lore and helps explain the differences between sightings.
Sadly, when it is taught, it is seldom taught well and this has led to a lot of people thinking it was something to do with modern democracy. Those who would normally condemn religious fanatics imposing theocracies on their people praise Cromwell, who wanted to do exactly that.
