1 WEEK LEFT! Remember to submit your abstract for the 38th Conference of the European Colloid & Interface Society before 29 March! Submit your abstract ➡️ ecis2024.org/abstracts #ColloidScience
It's the last day of the March @APSMeetings, so don't miss presentations from ChE community members like Tim Moore, a postdoctoral research fellow, and graduate students Gabrielle Jones & Kelly Wang! More details here: michiganche.info/49VKbBH
Today at the @APSMeetings postdoctoral research fellow @SchoeniPhlippsn and graduate students Maria Ward Rashidi & Charlotte Zhao are all presenting work from "cell-like 'flexicle' microrobots" to "assembly pathways for complex crystals." Details: michiganche.info/49VKbBH
📢 Call for Abstracts 📢 📥 Submit new research on all aspects of the ECIS 2024 theme: Colloidal active matter. Themes for ECIS 2024 ➡️ lnkd.in/d_Q-dywn Submit your abstract ➡️ ecis2024.org/abstracts NB! The abstract deadline is 29 March!
Check out my new paper with Kai Sun, Xiaoming Mao and @profglotz : "Rationalizing Euclidean Assemblies of Hard Polyhedra from Tessellations in Curved Space". We curved 3d-space to study why some entropically self-assembled crystals are highly complex whereas others are simpler.
Though geometrically forbidden from doing so in flat space, some hard Platonic solids can entropically self-assemble into space-filling crystals with sufficient spatial curvature go.aps.org/473CZli
1/n APS March Meeting attendees/materials geometry enthusiasts: Gyroid session at march.aps.org meeting in honor of Alan H Schoen: Inviting contributions (deadline Oct 20) @ApsDsoft @APS_DPOLY @ApsDbio
Alan Schoen passed away today at the age of 98. Alan was a mathematician best known for his discovery of the #gyroid, an infinitely connected triply periodic minimal surface. The gyroid is now ubiquitous in #3Ddesign and #3dprinting as well as many other scientific applications
