It's out! Whole genome resequencing and structural variation of 400 sorghum varieties from around the globe. Nicely done Lucas, @seerzan & @HongyuJin5. And thank you @ThePlantJournal.

I loved this essay on scientific writing in @NatureBiotech (rdcu.be/edUCp). It highlights a key lesson I’ve applied throughout my career: the power of reading, thinking, and keeping a notebook with your ideas. Let me explain why this matters… 🧵👇
Great turnout at this year's ARPA-E Energy Innovation Showcase! Good to catch up with both old friends (thanks for stopping by Prof. Kim!) and a lot of engineers, programmers and investors what corn was doing at an energy conference.

Hey #Botany2025 folks @KenchanmaneLab @UCRCNAS is going to its first conference together 🎉 Yuvraj & Minnie are presenting posters on regulation & cell-type specific gene expression during environment adaptation🌽🧬 Curious about our work? Let’s connect! kenchanmanelab.com
Back to Lincoln, NE collecting data on 2000+ plots of sorghum diversity panel. Thank you team @SchnableLab @szintri for hosting us. I am sure this collaboration between @SDState @SDStateCAFES and @UNLincoln @unlagrohort will lead to fruitful results.
Good news. It’s 61 and sunny…. ***AND*** pollen is shedding
Heavy sigh. Tomorrow will be worse. Cloudy and not likely to break 70°F until noon with a high of 74°

It's starting! Pollinating season in our corn nursery is just a few days away at this point. (Photo by @WaqarAli325)

Excited to see the first preprint from my first student, 𝗖𝗲𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘇, one year after he joined the lab! We uncovered spatial heterogeneity along the axis of a single barley leaf, characterized by heritable and region-specific stress response patterns.

Planting of the @SchnableLab SbDiv 2025 sorghum field is completed! This 2,438 plot field was the toughest field I worked with due the small plot size (1-row wide and 7.5ft long). However, @Chidu_ullagaddi, @Kyle__Linders, the UNL AgHort farm crew, and I succeeded!
Whatever else the coming weeks and months bring: our corn (some of it) is planted and growing.

Great talk on this morning on phenomics and sustainable water use for agriculture from Prof. Deniz Istipliler of @UniversiteEge! Glad he could travel the 10,000 kilometers and 36 hours speak here in Nebraska.
