Wildcats are crepuscular, meaning they are typically active at dawn and dusk. Like most cats, they like to spend a lot of their time asleep 🌙 However, throughout the summer, adults may be more active during the day as well. This is often to support a hungry litter of kittens 🐾

Wildcat kittens are being born in the Cairngorms National Park 😻 This incredible milestone would not have been reached without the ongoing support of our wildcat sponsors, project donors and fundraisers. Thank YOU for saving wildcats in Scotland ➡️ savingwildcats.org.uk/support 🙏
Got your ticket yet? 🎟️ With filming made possible by @NatureTrustEU, 'Clinging by a Claw' follows the wildcat’s journey into the Highlands 📽️ Be among the first to enjoy hidden moments behind the scenes of the UK's first wildcat restoration project ➡️ savingwildcats.org.uk/clingingbyacla…

Like many cat species, wildcats are excellent climbers 🌳 The large pre-release enclosures, based at @HighlandWPark, are built around the natural landscape, including tall trees for the juveniles to practise their skills in. It can make finding them a wee bit tricky though! 😹

With the incredible support of dedicated volunteers, over 1.5 million camera trap images have been tagged across five winter surveys 📸 Tagging images means identifying and recording any wildlife that appears in them 🦌 Some animals are less camera shy than others... 🦡
Risk versus reward 🌡️ A thorough disease risk assessment was carried out prior to any wildcat releases. Project vet, Dr Alice Bacon, co-authored research in @Mammal_Society's Mammal Review on the risks to wildcats and how they can be reduced ➡️ bit.ly/DRApaper 🐾
