RIP Fauja Singh Ji who passed away at 114. He took up running after losing his wife & son, turning grief into purpose. He dedicated his life to his Sikh faith (seva) raising over £100,000 for charity. At 100 he was the world’s oldest marathon runner. A beacon of inspiration 🙏🏽

Saw Marriage Material yesterday and it was fantastic!!. The bar area was buzzing with praise during the interval and the garland decorations at @LyricHammer were such a lovely nostalgic touch.
#BookRecommendation2025 Empireworld: How British Imperialism Has Shaped the Globe by @Sathnam What the reader gets is nuance, nuance, and more nuance. Not a book for someone looking for the simpler "good / bad" answer to the question of the legacy of the British Empire.
I met you when you first published your book. You were a bit nervous about how the fans of Arnold Bennett would react. So glad it's done so well. Several of us went to see it. Loved the play and have recommended it to everyone. Well done!
Wonderful afternoon with family watching @Sathnam #MarriageMaterial adapted for stage. I was not expecting the level of emotion I felt, it didn't just resonate with me, it was my mum's story, her parent's story, the story of so many in my family. Amazing cast, beautifully done♡

Went to see the adaptation of @Sathnam’s Marriage Material by Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti at the @LyricHammer this eve, directed by Iqbal Khan. It was a real treat, gorgeous and funny!
Enjoyed “Marriage Material” @LyricHammer based on @Sathnam book yesterday. Warm/witty/ funny/ sad/ touching/ moving with crisp script and performances. It triggered memories of forgotten phenomena eg the slush puppie machine! Starry audience out in force too Highly recommended
Can’t recommend Marriage Material by @Sathnam highly enough. Beautifully evocative on family, migration and belonging.
Wrote for @thetimes about the surreal and intense experience of having a book adapted for the stage. Tickets: sathnam.com/events thetimes.com/culture/theatr…
My wife, daughter and I were there last night. Really enjoyed it, wife also ended to night in tears, well done all. Being black country Sikhs (from Smetwick) had all the more poignant relevancy for us but it seemed to mean much to everyone else too.
