Hey guys. Hope you had a nice Weekend!
I had not seen this Fox News extended interview with Trump from 2024 — where they deliberately edited his Epstein answer — where he won’t commit to releasing the full files because of “phony” stuff in it.
The decency and courage of this man. Love.
Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.
Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing moms and mother-figures! @MichelleObama, the girls and I are so lucky to have you in our lives. We love you.
I am glad to hear that but let’s hope that NIH will remain the crown jewel of US biomedical sciences in a few years time. So far it’s looking rather grim - deep funding cuts being pushed by Trump admin and a demoralized scientific workforce that sees only dark clouds.
Tap. Tap. Tap. Is this microphone on? As @NIH Director, I oversee the crown jewel of US biomedical sciences. On my watch, we'll follow gold-standard science to Make America Healthy Again. I've been director about a month. I'll be sharing on here all our wins. Stay tuned!
100 days of total chaos and destruction! China is happiest. Voting matters…
Glad to hear that Harvard, my Alma Mater, stood up to the Federal Government in defense of academic freedoms. It’s a start, but at least their latest declaration aligns with the school’s Latin motto for Truth: “Veritas”. Perhaps other institutions will follow.
The university will not surrender its independence or relinquish its constitutional rights. Neither Harvard nor any other private university can allow itself to be taken over by the federal government. hrvd.me/ResearchFundin…
Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions – rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking concrete steps to make sure all students at Harvard can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and…
“No government—regardless of which party is in power—should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue.” - President Alan Garber hrvd.me/GarberRespond3…
No, Mr. President! Permanent DST has been tried before and COSTS LIVES! Please do not repeat failed history, and restore permanent STANDARD TIME instead!
No! Permanent Standard Time makes sense. Permanent DST is a mandate to start in the dark!
Make daylight saving time permanent—it just makes sense.
No! Permanent DST has been tried before and fails each time. We need to restore permanent Standard Time for better sleep, health, economy, education and safety!
To see two kids die of measles in the US is unconscionable. If I am RFK jr, I will resign in shame immediately or take strong action to prevent further deaths, at a minimum.
Postdoc position still available in my group at Imperial! We are looking for talented and enthusiastic candidates with significant experience with live imaging/ electrophysiology. Deadline 3/4/25 @UKDRI @ImperialBrains imperial.ac.uk/jobs/search-jo…
The country as a whole needs improved scientific literacy and media literacy. The comment section bears this out. People calling for things that are 1. Already done (like tracking AEs), or 2. That are just laughable from a scientific standpoint.
I did not lose faith in @NIH or @CDC. I am losing faith in a government that would deliberately undermine them without adequate understanding and with little thought to how that injures us all.
The erosion of trust in institutions like the NIH and CDC wasn’t primarily driven by failures of the academic research community—it was systematically engineered by disinformation campaigns, political subversion, and the amplification of selective or misleading narratives.
My heart goes out to all my colleagues @Columbia that, through no fault of their own, are suddenly facing a funding cliff where research will stop and people will be fired.
Today #NIH is terminating more than $250 million in funding—including more than 400 grants—to Columbia University following directives from the Trump Administration’s Joint Task Force to Combat Anti-Semitism. The cancellations are due to Columbia University’s continued inaction…
