We also analyzed predictors of the trust gap and found that right-leaning and conservative ideologies often predict a stronger negative impact on trust in climate scientists than in general scientists. However, in some countries, this effect was reversed.
We found that people expressed slightly more trust in general scientists than in climate scientists. Specifically, 43 countries showed lower trust in climate scientists, 19 showed no significant difference, and 6 placed higher trust in climate scientists.
