Extremely honored for the chance to share some of my story and artistic expressions with the larger neurosurgery community! Residency has only provided me more inspiration, and I can't wait to start new artistic and innovative projects soon!

Have I been listening to the Spice Girls more in the OR lately? -Yes. Is anyone mad about it? -Absolutely not haha. Happy upcoming International Women's day!
As we count down to International Women’s Day, we celebrate the incredible women residents of Duke Neurosurgery who are and shaping the future of medicine. 🧠 💪 Stay tuned as we honor the women who make a difference. #iwd #WomenInNeurosurgery @SamSpellicy @juliabduvall
Most enjoyable parts of academic medicine is seeing your mentees take on mentorship roles.Great seeing Dr. Kelly Wackerle, @DukeSpine fellow impart her surgical knowledge to Dr. Tara Dalton @taraedalton1 (left), Dr. Sam Spellicy @SamSpellicy (right) junior residents
Tomorrow the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology will host “The Things We’ll Never Know: A Science Fair of Canceled Grants”. Scientists will be sharing their story and discuss their now-canceled research grants. This event is open to the public and to the press.
Me walking out from my last in house 24-hour call this morning.

PGY 4 research year starts in T-minus 10 days! Appreciated the chance to share some of my project today at the @Dukeneurosurg Research Symposium.

Curious how to translate your research into compelling social media content? Please join us for our upcoming event, "#ShareYourScience: How to Talk Research on Social Media" with Dr. Samantha Spellicy and Dr. Faith Robertson, next Thursday, June 26th at 7 PM CT!
Can't overstate how inspiring and fun this course was. Can't wait to take the momentum back to the lab.
🏃♂️ Running at the RUNN Course of course! 🏃 The @SNS_Neurosurg 2024 Research Update in Neuroscience for Neurosurgeons (RUNN) course is directed this year by @GeraldGrantMD1. Running with him this morning were PGY3s @SamSpellicy, @taraedalton1, and Nick Chongsathidkiet! Nice!

Congrats to our wonderful chief Josh who is getting married tomorrow! Also thanks Kennedy and Tara for the donuts. This is the happiest I've see. Drew in 3 years.

3 separate attendings bought me lunch last week, the OR nurses saved me cake and cookies after a case, and we had leftover cold pizza in the workroom for breakfast this morning. Feeling like a perpetual grad student but not even made about it 😂. Sometimes little things like…

Hard to top free ice cream between cases. Had fun showing one of our current Sub-Is, Sera, some perks of @Dukeneurosurg!

When everyone keeps congratulating you on moving to PGY3 year, but you know it means another year of in-house call.

Calling all artists! Submit your artwork for the Art of Neurosurgery exhibit at #2024CNS—any format/media accepted! All selected art will be displayed in a gallery setting throughout the meeting. Submissions end July 1: cns.org/annualmeeting/… Gallery wall by @DrKathrynKo #CNSArt
6th grade me would not have guessed the next time I'd be eating gushers would be at work as a 34-year-old neurosurgery resident

Was thrilled to share some of my neurosurgery-inspired wire art at #2023CNS last year. Check out this year's call to share some of your own! Submissions due July 1. cns.org/annualmeeting/…

new retrospective cohort study out in @TheJNS which found lower rates of recanalization in pts on aspirin vs not great team of @Dukeneurosurg authors... @MusmarBasel @davidhasan10 @SamSpellicy @AZdukeneurosurg @JihadAbdelgadir
Our most recent paper, published @TheJNS, shows that regular aspirin use might be associated with reduced rates of aneurysm recanalization after endovascular coiling! Phenomenal mentorship from Dr. @davidhasan10 and Dr. @AZdukeneurosurg &teamwork @SamSpellicy @JihadAbdelgadir
Excited to see this paper come together. Thanks @MusmarBasel for taking the lead!
