You can be all for the culture but if your business no longer exists, you can't do anything for the culture. Got to find a model that works to pay you and your bills.
A great way to make a mistake is to ask for someone’s opinion on your idea, who has no idea.
It’s an issue for clubs like ours, we end up spending a fortune to get our teams and supporters to Manchester. We’re lucky to have amazing parents helping with travel costs, but it’s not a level playing field. they should rotate it—one year in the South, one year in the North.
Managed to publish this before the GB women’s EuroBasket game report vs Germany that happened on Sunday, btw.

Too many people with egos looking out for their own interests instead of what is in the best interests of the game, compounded by the “right” people not wanting to take on the roles where they would be most impactful, in part because they are seen as poison chalices (or because…
@SamNeter can you explain to someone on the outside, but who loves taking his youngest daughter to see @LondonLions , why it seems basketball over here seems hell bent on tearing itself apart? Thanks!
Big thank you to @TansleyEduardo & @TheAthletic for covering the valuable work the @HoopsfixFdn is doing alongside @AccessSport & @SamSureMusic to renovate basketball courts 🙌
The UK is not known for its basketball courts. In fact, as @UK_SBB show, some courts here can be pretty strange. But @Hoopsfix/ @HoopsfixFdn (@SamNeter) and @SamSureMusic are changing that. @TheAthleticNBA @TheAthletic Read here: nytimes.com/athletic/63995…
One of the best @Hoopsfix podcasts so far because of Jeremy's willingness to be open and honest - fascinating insight, well worth a listen. 🙌
Raw! Someone who will always be true to the game and easy to talk to, thank you! @SamNeter

'Iconic' seafront basketball court reopens 🌊🩷🩵 bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
The iconic Brighton Beach court was given a glamorous renovation thanks to @SamNeter and the @HoopsfixFdn along with @BrightonHoveCC. In two years a tired, faded court was transformed with goals of future tournaments being held there. basketballengland.co.uk/news/2025/brig… 📸: Kai Johnson.
What are the odds that the best possible content you could be consuming has been produced in the last 24 hours?
The design of the Internet has us only consuming content that was created in the past 24 hours. We’re like little hamsters on the wheel, scrolling and scrolling to keep up with an endlessly unfolding feed of content that moves faster than we can. It’s a tragedy, I think. It…
TPL becomes the third court (next to Clapham & Brighton Beach) that the @HoopsfixFdn has been able to make a financial contribution towards thanks to ticket sales from the Hoopsfix All-Star Classic. Buy a ticket to the Classic & you are actually re-investing back into the game.
TPL has re-opened today with a fresh new look, along with upgraded hoops, backboards, and some surface work! 🥰 Stay tuned for an official community day launch next week 👀🇬🇧🏀
Me and @TahirHajat thoroughly enjoying the Andre Arissol show yesterday
This is a fair point. That said, it would incentivise us to upskill clubs to be able to run their own stream/do photography etc. The goal should be every national league club has decent capabilities for their own game day management and club growth.
One major advantage of centralised venues is that one media team can cover all leagues on the same day. Would a Div3 (for example) club have the media capabilities to provide a half decent live stream for example (or BE have sufficient resource for multiple venues on one day).
I think home court advantage is about 4-6 points. Would give the top seed a better chance of winning, so one down side would be fewer upsets (which I think makes for great viewing) Not sure if that’s enough to counterbalance getting more fans in the venue to watch tho
I’d suggest the execution more than the principle seems to be the problem. NBPC isn’t a great venue in terms of feeling special and it isn’t sold as an event. Obv seeding would only ever apply to POs, not cups. You’d massively penalise ‘away’ fans too or not benefit ‘home’
🤣 Hotel breakfast this morning was heaving with fluorescent lycra and running shoes
Luckily, there’s nothing else going on in Manchester this weekend, so hotels are nice and cheap 😂🏃🏻♂️
Logistically this is so difficult without clubs owning their venue. Getting late bookings at a good time is very difficult to do and it is why even the pro-league shies away from multi-game series.
As some one who has done national final I know what it means a knock down game in a neutral arena (club side, supporter side, team side, money wise). Why not a Best of 3 series from D3 to D1 (or at least D1), something that can be easily done in a week (Sunday-Wednesday-Sunday).
In all major basketball countries, a part from the youth elite finals, everything it's a series
